How much do you charge for solar panels?

Agree with you there SPC, I picked up a job off a WFPer this week. The woman phoned and asked if I did cleaning off ladders at all. I said sometimes, but most of the time I pole the windows. Oh she says, the last guy keeps leaving dirty spots all over the glass and I'm fed up with calling him back to re-clean. I go round and sure as hell the glass is dreadful. I convince her to let me try WFP. I did them today and she called later to thank me for an excellent job. They will be recommending me to all their neighbours now.
If you know you can do a specific job be confident when quoting it. People need reassurance and not umm and ahhers.

Yeah, agree, it wasn't an ummm ahh though, more just feeling embarrassed that they'd pay £50 for a 10 minute job that anyone could do with a hose and a broom..

Yes I know they should use pure water etc, but even so, it's not rocket science, there easy to clean really...

Perhaps I'm too nice, I personally feel anything over £50 seems like daylight robbery, that's my opinion, we're all different...

The huge Job we did in Ipswich, in the the other post I put up, was what I call 'worth the money' but cleaning solar panels - just seems like a bit of token gesture!! Ah well, doing them tomorrow, £50 in the bag either way, next time I'll tell them smurfs coming, and with it that, they'll need £80 /emoticons/wink.png

jake i think your bang on with your £50 price

that looks great job too, nice and low , we have made these jobs easy now /emoticons/wink.png becourse we have spent money

on best of gear to do these jobs

cleanes panels two months backthey are covered in :turd: again as they say **** happens

Yeah I'm happy with £50, fair play to old smurf charging 80 odd,

I honesty expected most on here to be suggesting I quoted too high! Ah well, what do I know, I'm just a window cleaner... Hang on, I am a window cleaner for real! - bad joke, quick, move on.o_O

Exactly Duncs. I did an S/F/G and conny on a house this week. The lady said that her husband used to do it but he can't get to most of what needed cleaning. She was watching me work as we chatted and she asked how on earth was I going to reach the gutter over the conny. Watch this I said as I extended the pole up and over. It took nearly 4 hours to do the lot. Next doors came out and asked for a quote while I was there too. Tools for the job is what we have and the customer is paying for the use of these specialist tools to be used. Could the customer who wants their solar panels cleaned clean them themselves? How much would that customer have to fork out to buy some tools to do that job? How many times would the customer use these tools? It's cheaper to get someone in with the tools for the job! £50 is cheap compared to what they would pay to buy some tools to do it themselves.

yeh tuffers its the same when your cleaning them velux windows it just makes it more possible to do these jobs now

.. not a broken slate, roof tile in sight:eek:

Oh well you don't feel so bad now when you now know others like myself would have charged more./emoticons/wink.png

If I was the customer, I'd take a hose up a ladder get a soft broom and do it myself, that what people would of done years ago, however, everyone's lazy now and far too safety conscience, so more work for us, even though in my opinion it's ridiculous to pay someone £50 to clean panels that's are that easy to access!

I don't do one off irregular jobs for less than £50. Don't feel bad for having a minimum fee even if it only takes 5 mins......

I make much better money on small piddly jobs than I do big jobs. Just need more of 'em!

So how exactly are you going to clean them @Jake

The exact same way I always do! Exactly the same as windows, you!?

I've done a fair few and always found them exactly the same as windows, they always come up well.

Nor do I advertise that I do and when ppl ask I say no as i'm not trained /emoticons/biggrin.png

I quoted a gutter/fascia cleaning job recently at £200. The guy whistled through his teeth and joked, 'It's normal form to hold a gun when robbing people'. I laughed and told him I was very busy and had customers waiting. Got in the van and drove away.
A few days later he rang and accepted my price. In the conversation he said that he had two other prices, both less than mine, but I sounded like I knew what I was talking about.

It is all about presentation.

If I get "I will have to talk it over with my partner" I say "no problem". They normaly phone me back and say "we would like to go ahead when can you do it". That is probaly because I'm very good at selling myself who knows but if you don't ask you don't get /emoticons/biggrin.png

u cant just go up with hose and broom an wash

wat if they fell

wat if they broke one

wat if they broke somethin else

solar panels are easy and fast to clean with the right equipment

with wrong equipment well not to easy
