Hi guys

was wondering if anyone could give me advice on a price to charge for pressure washing this school which as cladding all around it and is 2100 sqm. Would you recommend a job price or price per sqm? If so recommendations please.

cheers.

I would have thought you would use WFP and degreaser to clean the cladding? A pressure washer will only remove the surface dirt and may cause more damage than good. Try a test patch with WFP and a bucket of degreaser to factor in the time scale and the result and take it from there. Going in blind and trying to wing it could be a nightmare.

Hi tried it already pal with wfp didn’t do to well to be honest it is a plaster cladding. Also you have any recommendations price wise??

You will be a couple of hundred on petrol for a PW if it takes you 3 days. I think in the region of £5 to £10 a square metre. If they need it done quickly over the next week because  the school is on holiday then a tenner sq m. If its just to freshen it up and they are asking around then a fiver if you need the work. Seems like a painstaking process if you ask me but a tenner is the right price.

Would water proof sealing it after help keep the **** off it stop algae growth and maybe being able to wfp it everytime after as well as earn more £££ from sealing it.

I think it will take you ages to pressure wash that as well as getting access to all of it.

Personally id get a hot water system  installed boiler (£80) on ebay bottle of gas gas piping and regulator and a fire extinguisher and i think it would clean it better than pressure washing

It’s difficult to tell from the picture but what is the contamination/ dirt ??? Is it carbonatious or algy ?.. that’s a big building you need to get the cleaning process right by trying a few test patches first , softwashing might be the best method depending what’s on the surface , Cleaning a building that size by any method is a specialist job , I don’t mean to be rude but Do you have the man power ,equipment, experience to do the job ?.. are you coverd by your insurance to do that type of work ? It would be very easy to shoot yourself in the foot with something on that scale if you haven’t done work like this before .

It looks like the staining on the cladding is coming from the sills and the dark grey roof rail things , that will need specialist cleaning wfp or pressurewashing won’t remove that , speak to Darran smith at purple rhino he will sort you out with the right chemicals you need to do the job , but as I said before if you haven’t done this type of work before you are taking on a bit of a risk tackling this for a first job

Pjj the contamination is just algae they have grass on roof and had problems with the seals hench why the algae stains. They have had it pressure washed before but only up to 5 mtrs in height and said there was no problems. I have experience doing it and equipment just never on this scale didn’t know what price to offer weather a job lot or per sqm as it is a big job. Cheers

If it’s algy it either wants treating with bio products to kill it ,or softwashing with hypo , pressurewashing will not kill it it will just remove the surface green thus encouraging it to grow back evan faster ,

If I was going to softwash that it would be in the ball park figure of 4 to 8 k but looking at pictures is not the same as seeing the building in the flesh , that’s why the price is a bit vague , I personally wouldn’t pressurewash it it won’t solve the problem . A bio product like spray and walk away or algo clear pro is also another way to tackle this but it won’t be an instant clean it will take a couple of weeks to several months to remove the stain lines , again this is why it’s so important to do test patches first with different products then decide on the best product for the job , and price accordingly

Cheers pal I am going to be doing that anyway next week while the kids are off so I will just try a few diff methods and see where I think is best. They also want windows doing obv a different job to the other what price would you give them basically what you see is mostly it a few more windows dotted about extra.
