How much would you charge

Hi guys - hope you're all well. I've been slowly working on the window cleaning and the business is doing okay now.

However in terms of gutter clearing i've only done standard 3 bed semis and charged roughly 60 pounds.

This house (pictures underneath) might be a bit difficult because im only on ladders at the minute - they want a gutter clear and clean, fascia clean and one off window clean. I have a price in mind but was wondering what you guys would charge. And also, do you think this will be okay to do on just ladders (from the pictures)? Hope these pictures have come up ok.

If the windows haven't been cleaned for years i would quote £300. They have probably saved a lot more by not having them cleaned regularly. I'm getting to the stage that I just prefer to clean my customers sfg, maybe I'm getting old.

Cheers guys, I was actually thinking of going in a bit under 200. Will probably increase it to 225 maybe, only reason is because im not sure how much of a quality job i'll able to do because of ladder positioning etc. Might be the time to invest in a gutter vac!

Id say quote £250-300 and get the gutter vac first and save yourself alot of grief.

I did a gutter vac today 2x 22mt straight runs and 2 down pipes on an industrial unit they were full of growth, took me 40min to vac out, 1hr total time spent £100 job, on a ladder id have said it was a 2.5hr job easily.

Less risk, less time, more professional.

Im back there to do them again in March then every March for £80 a time, next time im thinking 20min tops

That is going to be one pita job with ladders. I think the only way you'll be able to clear the gutters is by putting the stand off against the roof tiles on the 1st photo. There also doesn't look like enough room round the side where the hedge is. If you need the work then your price should be competitive. The good part is there only appears to be one tree that can affect the gutters and the roof looks nice and clean so there shouldn't be that much in them.

Not the easiest of jobs off a ladder using a gutter vac we would be .

Vacc all gutters and cheak for water flow in downpipes clear as nessasary  £130

upvc clean £120

windows £50

total price £300

Just had back

"Hi Josh, that sounds quite a lot more than I expected but thanks for having a look."

My price I went for was 250, and to be honest I actually thought it was quite expensive myself but didn't want to undersell myself, hence asking on here. Appreciate all the responses but just wondering if 250 for this was a realistic price?

Means I'll have to find another excuse for buying a gutter vac now ??

I would have thought £500 if I did add on's as there is a whole load of work in that job, some people don't see it as a skilled job or that you may have to invest in expensive equipment, no doubt there is plenty around that would spend hours up a ladder for a £150.

At least he's got back to you, many don't. Why not ask him where he thought the price should be. If he says £100 then just say thanks, if he says £200 see if you can do a deal somewhere in between. You initially said your price was sub £200 and if you're going to get a gutter vac to do it then there's no risk, just your time.

To be honest I've already said thanks, and if he changes his mind to get back to me. But I can definitely see now how I wouldn't want to be doing it with ladders for 150 quid say. Not worth the risk.

In my honest opinion £250 is cheap , there is a lot of it , difficult access, deep soffits , I wouldn’t do it for less than £300 it’s worth that where ever the property is and if they don’t want to spend that I walk away , I priced a job back in May  big detached house with a conservatory the size of a small bungalow, they wanted all the gutters vaccing out (70 meters in total ) all the plastics cleaning gutters ,facias ,soffits , over the conservatory roof, over an extension (90 meters in total with a couple of porches ) the conservatory cleaned on the outside including the glass roof , and all windows . I priced it at £450 it would take two people best part of a day to do , the guy said he had another quote for £400 if you can match that the jobs yours I explained why the price was what it was and that that was my price and it’s not negotiable , he said that he would get the other guy to do the job then so I said fair enough and walked away , we go past this property every two weeks and guess what ?? It still hasn’t been cleaned the weeds and grass now are over a foot high in the gutters and they are overflowing, the property is worth in the region of 1.4 million and he won’t spend £450 to clean a bit of plastic , the cars parked on the drive are

jaguar f pace 19 plate

BMW X5 sport 18 plate

Bmw m4 17 plate

and the wife’s run around jaguar f type on private plates ???

makes you laugh doesn’t it .

It's worse than that, your price was £450 he wanted to pay £400, so he is effectively trying to save himself £50.  If you have got that amount of money £50 is like £5 to average joe.  £50 difference either way is not going to make one jot of difference to the guys life.

Should of said lets meet at 425, some people like to barter...

I cannot go in Tesco and barter with my shopping bill , I felt £450 was a very reasonable price and not prepared to drop . It was a one off job as well on a 1:4 million pound house I wasn’t trying to overcharge him in fairness it should have been more , I felt he was trying to get something for nothing ,and take advantage .

But you can negotiate your insurance, hotels, etc etc
