Using A Ladder To Get Up On A First Floor Roof Safely And Difficult Window To Clean?

From the photos below you see where I was trying to get on a first floor window. I put a standoff and climbed on quite easily, but was scared still about how to get back down. In the end, I took the standoff off and put the ladder against the guttering and nervously climbed down. I wasn't comfortable and was worried I would fall, any hints?

Second photo, I use an extension pole to clean the top of this window, but I find the awkward shape difficult to clean, any ideas how to get the squeegee on a pole into the difficult corners at the top of the window?
