I'll think about it.... not

er...you really want to know...well it wasnt quite the way i planned it...he phoned as i was just going out of the door moaning at the smurfy prices that other windys wanted to charge and mentioned that his own was ill and he travelled from leigh...some forty mins away and he managed to do it in and out for £75..... so i said ...what time does he start ...he said 9,30 and i said and when does he finish ...he said 3,30 so i said i finish at four so i said if he can do it for that so can i....without seeing it....

. i always knew i would have to skip as much as poss....but near the end...i just used my cill cloth scrim scrunched up and just waved it over the leads at the front....they were not really cleaned as such but i had killed myself and i was gonna finish at four....

it really is a case of....mr taytay saves the day day...them magic clothes are really magic...i just gave a quick wipe and the detailing was done...can't thank you enough for that ...ta. again..

the house was owned by our haggling friends...and feeling sorry for someone running about in a top class merc and then a lamborghini....i wasn't... at four ...i finished and sat in my car on the drive in the believe he had gone for the money....grandad was cutting the grass on his lawnmower....and staring a lot at me...

.he eventually sauntered over ....and we get....have you done all the insides...yes.,,,.er not really....then did you do the swimming pool....oh yes there was a lot of splash marks on them....and did you reach the very top ones...oh yes of course ...as he stares at them....i said ...i have got a long pole... eventually he lost interest and went back to mowing..

.he had already collard me trying to put my ladders on with have you done those above the garage.......i said no...and went off to do them......that didn't take me long..they were covered with lead oil drip from above and i buggered if i am shifting that... any way he finally arrived back

..i was getting worried..she was due back anytime and said don't do the upstairs insides til i get back and i will show you what to do....naff off....i had done enough bloody glass for that tiny amount ... if i was given the chance i would have said at best £75 out and £75 in ...the insides were nice plain glass but...there was a massive glass balcony in a square...and all down the stairs...and i had to take my ladders in to do that... so quotes of £200 were right and my £150 wouldnt be a good price...unless you wfp but as a lot say...i don't like that...i bet he dont like my crumpled scrim of the fronts either in the full sun tomorrow morning but i got my money and i now ill, well if its a good enough excuse for his old windy ... i just hope he doesnt ring again...:rolleyes:nighty night tuffers...

I would have just laughed after seeing what needed to be done for £75 then hit him with my real price. If he didn't like it then would have told him to stick his lambo up his **** /emoticons/biggrin.png

It's still money in your pocket I suppose but you defo had been taken for a ride on that one.

Speaking of which the old boy on the mower I would have told him to do one /emoticons/biggrin.png

Love it cnc, I can picture your story word for word.

Make this man ELITE right now

I had a :ninja: phone me this week. "You a window cleaner?" Err, yes. "Can you clean my windows?" Err, where are you (not really interested). "So and so road in so and so ville." Ah right, I'll pop by and give you a quote (like buggery will I. I'm fed up with the haggling, have you done this, have you done that) they do my head in. I had one try and give me £5 less on the second clean! I explained that it was £5 more and now she wants cobwebs and stuff brushing off above the windows etc just to get her money's worth. Mr:ninja: Asked me to quote for a F/S/G clean and nearly choked when I told him how much haha. Get up the ladder and do it ya self matey and then tell me I'm too much!

Oh and before I forget, I had one call me for a gutter clear and F/S/G. I got there and he said gutters don't need doing now as he did them on the Sunday. But could I quote for the plastics. Agreed a price and day. Got a text the next day and cancelled the plastics as he'd managed to get the bit of muck off. Then he sends me a text straight after to quote a window clean at his business premises 10 miles away, the cheeky get

31 to go but dont tell anyone....gav thinks we dont know....or is that 30 if i post this....should be elite by monday..hurray..
C'mon cnc post any old b0ll0cks, we're behind you mate /emoticons/biggrin.png

yep i agree...suppose not a full day as some would do on here...10 til 4 but i didnt stop apart from a couple of adjustments to the equipment from my car...i think of it as a one off painful lesson in life....now how the hell do i get out of it when he phones me back...

yes i think i will say minimum £75 outsides....and despite his opposition...i would be highly tempted to wfp the lot...although i do not have the equip for that as access was easy for the proper wfp people..

er ...for defo ...i will do a runner from that job...

mind you ...if its a dark and dingy ..rainy ...november day....

75 is low . i used to do a place similar ,not as big as that but big enough ,on my own £36 just the outsides ,just so i could say i could hack it.daftie or what . took me 2 hours on a good day . a bit of a shoddy job but what dyou expect on your own fighting it like a tiger

i still do the place to this day, ,but now with a crew theres 4 of us on it , at £160

still takes 2 hours ! now summats wrong there !!

gotta like that post boar....yeh but i started out in the shade around the back doing a proper job and had me music on but then started :turd: myself as i knew i wasnt going to finish for four...well i bloody was going to finish for four.....them swimming pool ones were in the shade and got a pretty quick wipe over not something i would dream of doing if i was getting paid proper rate...no ...i defo ill next time..

.in fact ...i am thinking of being pretty hard on new potential one offs and asking for the money up front as to me on my own i was scared of getting stiffed..they wouldnt argue with you and your crew but he may have seen me as a soft touch and come out with the no money excuse...but i wasnt shifting my car off till i got it but he was okay in the end..or else i would call nicely on his wedding day saturday in front of all his guests...

i had a new one recently, an end of lease barn conversion which was nicely empty but he said i will drop the money off at your house and not thinking i said yes....er thinking...i left it ...he phoned back and said you didnt do it and i said i need the money up front as its empty....he paid by paypal there and then...was a nice easy job too...cept paypal took a cut...still on my books ....

youre makin me chuckle cheap n cheerful. i guess weve all been there . youre already thinkin of an excuse for when he rings you up- well practice your speech several times at home so youre confident or you will end up fluffing it and saying "OK "

When i was on my own i used to use the "van engine blown, at 70 mph " excuse , dont use the " van wont start " cos that only gives you a few hours grace !

"backs gone" is another thats no good ,cos they might see you around

Just say it was too cheap and re-negotiate. I had one come out last week and he said 'do you still do the gutter vac and gutter clean?' Yes I say, but I massively underpriced the job last time I did it. I added 50% to the price and he agreed. Bump it up cnc if you want it, if you don't just say you haven't got time. I've got a woman mithering me to do her insides all the time (big farm type building with lead and Georgians), I keep saying I'll ring her when it's raining. I don't intend doing the job even if it's raining

i jus remembered , i used the blown engine excuse not when i had underpriced, it was when i just didnt want to go . i sensed trouble,

id gone round to quote the job, it was 3 storey ,new build . the lady invited me in, to show me the back of the house the only access was thru the house , thru conservatory . her husband was there, he was a paraplegic , youngish, well about 40 , he wasnt in a wheelchair and was just hauling himself about the place.

i jus knew this job was asking for trouble, carrying triples thru a conservatory but i couldnt think of how to get out of doing it. i quoted my price and then said id call them when next in the area and went on my way . after about a week she called me and thats when i said the van had blew up on me. this lame excuse bothered me but at least it worked

Strangely about a month later ,the van did blow up !

stranger still,i sold it for spares or repairs on ebay and a local dealer bought it. i pass by this dealers in course of my round and saw the old van sat in the yard behind others for ages, then one day it was gone ,scrapped no doubt

well about a month later ,this is about a year from start of all this, downtown ipswich i was driving along ,guess what rounded the corner,,,, yes ,my old van .. with window cleaning ladders on top . how amazin is that- not seen it since

If I get a job I don't want to do now I quote a stupid price but most times I just say I'm to busy. Had a lady that wanted inside and out done and it was hot and my dog comes with me all the time now and I didn't want him in the hot car so cleaned outside and said I would come back in a week... That was 4 weeks ago.. Bet she still want them done but don't want to do them...
