as windies out on the street , we often see other people at work , or going to work , in other lines of work not our own .

are there any jobs you see that a part of you dreams/wishes that you were doing? and why ?

the grass is always greener on the other side of course!.

not really - but I like to watch other ppl nicely dressed , executive cars , office/manager job : )

Even if I get £200 + a day im still a cleaner lol however I love what I do

and of course.....not many jobs where you can start when you want finish when you want and do what the hell you want really....well...most of the time...

little part of me would like to be a trucker . not doing multi drops , but instead doing container work to and from the ports. i live near Felixstowe docks and have a few mates that do this job. but i can imagine it gets very boring in the end

talking of the grass is greener, iv a brother who is long time in the aircraft industry ,earns a packet , travels the world ,china once a month but a stressy job working lates etc .

when he was ever visiting me he used to take the mickey out of my window cleaning . but on the last visit he and his kids had a weeks hol at mine by the beach ,hes starts asking me all sorts,including--- do you always finish so early ?must be nice finishing when you do and then "what do you lot talk about? on the window cleaning forums".

now iv never mentioned forums, which means he has looked in ,hey,,,, he secretly yearns to be one of us !!

Done the management job, nice car etc........but they can keep their stress, 24 hr a day email, office politics etc. 18 months into this job and wishing i'd done it sooner. Love having evenings and weekends for the family, and the stress levels have plummeted!

Back to original question though........always thought I would like Clarkson, Hammond or May's gig...!

ive got a degree in geography - and really liked and hoped to get a job where I can use what I've studied but now all is in the past ...

I bet you never have trouble finding a street though. /emoticons/biggrin.png

I've always wanted to be a fighter pilot, but don't think that'll ever happen.

I was stock and systems administrator for Wincanton project gold 2012 Olympics. .trust me much less stress on the glass.

i spent 20 plus years working in a middle management job for a travel company, it was very stressful it times but had quite a few good points, and I did get a sense of achievement when sales were up and things going well, but I'm really enjoying the window cleaning and have enjoyed massively starting up my own business from scratch, now on about £1200 per month turn over, so im small time but feels good having done it myself (well ok i bought about 3/4 of the work).

I have a serious side business trading the financial markets, me and my partner have some investors and we are making them money as well as a bit for ourselves and I guess ultimately I would love to trade from home full time, my own account (if it was big enough) so I could dump the investor money and reduce stress.

funny thing if ever i got there with the trading I'm sure I will keep a small round of my most cream jobs as I enjoy the window cleaning so much

always wanted to sell ice cream/cold drinks on a beach in spain/tenerife/greece wherever i was on holiday that year and not go home

never happened

Good thread boar, i have recently thought about doing my a levels in biography and geography in a bid to get into something where i travel to distant parts of the world. But doubt it very much.

Then again i also keep looking at doing some sort of college course in music, i play guitar and would like to do something with it.

But i have tried to leave window cleaning twice already, and came back. And since going wfp i doubt i will ever try and get a proper job again. I like my lifestyle waaaaaaay too much, fair enough i will never be rich but who ever said they wish they'd worked more on their deathbed?

I wanted to buy the old disused garage in aviemore and set up a car wash(dont have any money for that) but some property developer has bought it, but they cant build just now, due to some endangered caterpillar in the area:rofl:. The reason I would like to go there is, aviemore has lochs for windsurfing in the summer, mountain biking and snowboarding in the winter. Thats the dream, dreams can come true:rolleyes: I hope. Maybe there would be a good window cleaning round instead, snowboarding from one house to another:rolleyes: I like window cleaning overall, when I'm earning a fair amount for a days graft, some days are not so good, so get a bit annoyed at that, but overall, if Im pleasing the custys and my better half, I'm happy and glad to be my own boss:). I like spending time in the cleaning stuff isles in Tesco, b&q etc looking for a product on sale or that I could use to clean somethingo_O.

this is gd thread boar, when I was young early 20s often thought of being full time karate instructor, you know when you dream of your perfect job.

But like many on here love being my own boss, planning my days work.

I had 28 years in a job that I hated. It dominated my life and was very stressful. I was always bringing work home and spent many a sunday afternoon catching up on it.....madness. I was lucky enough to be able to get voluntary redundancy 3 years back. I dont know why, but I decided to become a windy. I had three months to work before I got my payoff and by the time I had left, I had 50 customers. I have never looked back. I love the freedom that being a windy gives you and cant ever imagine having an employer again.

Having said all that, I often come across builders and wish I had gained the skills they had...must prove so useful. My main ambition though, has always been the same throughout my life......to have a little croft, somewhere remote on the west coast of scotland and to live a self sufficient life.
