I am just setting up my new van and was wondering , I have a Shurflo pump which I have always had it up right and have literately just turned it upside down , do I have to have the pipe from the tank swapped round or can I just put the hosing in as it is? Is there an in and out on the pump? Sounds stupid I know but ain't got a scooby lol, here's how I have just done it , I've turned It upside down and connected the hosing up is this ok?

Is that exactly the same as yours ? Was just wondering the pump has an inlet and outlet is it ok to have it this way?

You will be sucking water and resin out of your di through your pump if you don't connect the flow properly.

If you turn that pump upside down as in the first pic the inlet will now be on the left not right. You will need to swap the hoses over bud including the inline filter.

Aye, you're right, it looks like he's rotated the pump round. Don't turn it on!!!/emoticons/biggrin.png

I've not wired it up yet thank god !!! Lol , I think I will keep it as it was in the second pic save all the faffing around as I will have to get longer hosing to the outlet of the tank

Thanks everyone

Your filter is on the right pump upside down and then on right pump upright. If you turned it upside down should it not be on the left !!!

All wired up now and have moved the pump a bit further down and left it the same as the second pic sod it lol

Mine is the same as the first picture. Been like that for 2 years
You sure Koopmaster .

The pump with inlet/outlet at the bottom (as in the first pic).......the filter and flow of water will be from left to right.

I think it's funny TBH.

The first recommendation by Williamson pumps was that the Shurflo pump should fit motor pointing down. The first screw on inlet filters tightened up correctly with the filter bowl in the down position when the motor was fitted as first recommended (motor below pump head.) So the information label stuck to the motor housing is correctly positioned.

Then about 7 years ago they decided that it would be better to mount it the other way with the motor on top. This was prompted by the theory that if the pump leaked, water wouldn't get into the motor. The inlet filter then wasn't correct as the filter bowl was now on the top of the filter when the screw-on filter was tightened up. So in came the wingnut secured filter bowl that could be tightened up so the bowl could point down with the motor in any position.

But despite all the changes, no one has been able to arrange for the pumps information label to be stuck on the correct way for the suggested pump's orientation.

All I can say is that it beggars belief - unless I'm missing something.

BTW - I have only used Shurflo pumps and they have never given us any trouble. The first Shurflo pump I bought is still in service daily after 8 years. They are great pumps and I would recommend them from my experience, but each time I see the pumps with the labels up-side-down on my van, I shake my head.

Mine has always been with the pump head pointing down so I don't care to be honest which way the label is on the pump as long as it works /emoticons/biggrin.png
