Been asked to quote a roof

It still looks like hard work though

Don't know how smurfy does it all the time

My new next door neighbour is a climber..bit younger than me so still in shape

We got chatting the other day and he invited me climbing

gotta stay off the beer for a bit and lose a few pounds now..lol

for flat tiles - the best option is broom and a garden hoe - get a light one like fiskars

I had a call on friday and been asked how much to clean a gutter (2 bedroom house) - and I said 30 quid plus £20 to clean the fascia

then the guy said - so the total is £50 does this include cleaning the roof tiles ? and my answer was £300

end of conversation : )

If you picked a nice day, this could be a great job off a roof ladder. Sit on the ladder, put you mp3 on,and get into a rythm. Its a cool job so long as you quote it right. The MP3 is essential as the sound of scraping starts topiss you off after a while. /emoticons/wink.png

You forgot about the bit when sitting on a roof ladder it hurts yer bum /emoticons/biggrin.png

Take a couple of beers and a packed lunch in your pouches and you're set for the day:rofl:

I would pressure wash this from the top down, decent roof ladder, harnesses, gutter vac etc and price for two days, don't be afraid to put a decent price on it-£700 minimum, they always take longer than you think

Welcome to the forum Graham. I see where you're coming from, but at those sort of prices, I think they'll leave the moss up there. I'm not that arsed about the job tbf.

that sounds good but ...

my landlord replaced all roof tiles couple of years ago - paid 1500 for that , the roofing company ?! was managed by an Asian man and all workers asian too - they were working like ants and finished in two days ,

I assume that somebody who paid 1500 to replace the tiles would never pay more than £30 to clean the roof lol

The tiles themselves have a life expectancy of about 90 years but it's usually the roofing membrane that goes first hence why most roofs are replaced then.

Does moss on roof tiles cause any real damage?

I would say no not really but keeps me in a job unblocking guttering & downspouts /emoticons/biggrin.png

I read once that moss on the roof apart from being unsightly is actually good for the house as it helps insulate, as well as 'plugging' leaks since the moss usually grows on the warmest areas.

Congratulations on being the first man on the forum to out live a roof tile @Smurf. hahaaha /emoticons/biggrin.png ...sorry couldn't resist.
