Gutter camera

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Not used it yet on guttervac poles for any length of time but used it alot on a wfp for quick gutter surveys which is really what I got it for. Which may I add paid for itself more than twice over on my first large job /emoticons/wink.png

SO you have not tried before?

Using a guttercam saves time humping ladders about on quotes etc and is ideal for awkward access too which in turn I think looks much more professional.

The amount of new business I have won using a guttercam/taking vids or pics is unreal as you can show potential customers how badly blocked their gutter are. Not only that if it's a shared gutter runs they will take you next door to show them too if they are in or tell them they need doing also. Next thing you know most of the time you can win other work too a as picture paints a thousand words and all that. /emoticons/biggrin.png

To be honest with you my plan was to use camera in real time with preview to see how good I am clearing gutters and if I need to go back because some sh....t has been left behind I can without bringing gutter poles back down to the ground.can You comment how good camera is for that purpose:thumbsdown::feet:

You can still get batteries for my old 3gs but I'm sure it will be fine for the type of jobs I do. Anyhow I use customers power with an extension lead for the vac so can also put things on charge too if I want. Which to be honest I often do especially when the wfp pump battery starts getting low as I normally at a deep clean job for a few hours. Not only that I have the option to charge stuff up in the van too if I want and me ipone is normally plugged in anyway as the van came with a hands free parrot system.
custys power

I found out today it works great in real time /emoticons/smile.png

I used the gopro yesterday to do another gutter clear & fascia clean quote.

I do seem to get the awkward ones to do as to clear and clean the guttering & fascia is going to be a right pain in the **** on the back of this one. The garden you see in the pic is not theirs either so I will have to drive the van around 3 roads to get to the back garden. Oh deep joy :D

You can turn and save pics the right way up using something like windows photo gallery but I don't think you will be able to do the same if you recorded a vid on the gopro with it showing upside down.

Is it only me or when You do gutters without camera you need to go up and down up and down the ladder to check. Any suggestions for good wireless camera with normal batteries?-the ones build-in last maximum an hour...
Most wireless cameras on the market can be frustrating to use, especially when exceeding 2 floors; the signal strength is not strong enough and the quality in video image becomes very poor. The reason this is, is because to use a frequency signal that transmits a strong enough signal to view the images in good quality you need to have a broadcasting licence, something that is too expensive to get for the sake of gutter cleaning. You could therefore argue that wired cameras could be a better option, but the wires can sometimes get in the way and it can become irritating to use, so its a bit of a catch 22.

We found that the best option is to buy a go pro, if you buy the black edition you can use the wifi to connect to your phone and view the images that way. The reason this works better that the traditional wireless camera systems is because it avoids the wireless broadcasting by using a different transmission through the wifi. It is also water proof which is useful considering its gutter cleaning, and you have less to carry around with you; and you can just view the images on your phone. The only downside we found is there is a slight delay by about 2 seconds between real time and the video on your phone, but picture quality is very good and its super easy to use.

I got myself a handlebar/seat post/pole mount which is perfect to mount a gopro on a bare wfp for inspection work.http://shop.gopro.com/EMEA/mounts/handlebar-seatpost-pole-mount/GRH30.html#/start=1

Also got a spare battery and a lcd touch screen bacpak so if I want can view the vids or pic straight from the camera. This is very handy to have to show customers vids & pics.

Next I need to get myself a roll bar mount so can fit the camera to my guttervac nozzles aswell. http://shop.gopro.com/EMEA/mounts/roll-bar-mount/GRBM30.html#/start=1

As far as wifi is concerned I have an old iphone 3gs that I've downloaded the free gopro app so when connected to the gopro I can view and control the functions of the camera from the ground. Just need to get a waterproof touch screen mount for the iphone that will fit a wfp and guttervac pole then I will be sorted. /emoticons/smile.png
We use this clamp on this link, it works really well for gutter cleaning: http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/ultra-clamp.html

Hi bud, I think you will find the gopro white & silver hero 3 + also has built in wifi but you don't get the little camera remote which is in my opinion is a bit pointless to have when using the gopro app on a smart phone.

What I do find handy is the optional lcd bacpack for playing back vids & showing pics but that's down to personal preference I guess if you can't be arsed having the wireless on.

I agree about using baby wireless monitors/recorders that suppliers got on the bandwagon and called them guttercams as found they were pants. My first guttercam was hard wired and agree I found it was very frustrating to use.

I'm very pleased so far will the gopro hero + silver but only time will tell if it can handle the amount of work I do.

I would have still bought a black if they had it in stock at the time I needed one /emoticons/wink.png
