Wfp bad back and neck!

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Wfp will be much better for your joints than carrying ladders around! As was stated, purchase the lightest poles and be aware of the potential of developing tennis elbow . Other than that I would personally say wfp is a pretty easy job and totally stress free!

I'm thinking window cleaning is far easier physically than most manual work. What's the heaviest thing you're gonna lift? Ladders are light, water is in 25kg drums. Happy Days!

The problem with the ladder lifting comes from getting them off my vehicle. I have a Toyota hilux which is quite high which give a bad lifting style off the roof. No I'm not over weight you cheeky what's it [emoji12]
I've suffered from a bad back for sometime and the ladders weren't helping

iv not seen a hilux used in this trade. do the ladders slide on from the back{if so wheres the back roof bar located?}
or is it a case of lifting them on from the side ?

No it's a case of lifting them off the side which can be quite awkward

My ladders only weight 10kg which makes light work of carrying ladders. Just have a think about how life can be made easier... Keep your back warm!. Especially in the winter. Most bad backs are caused by lifting in correctly or the cold getting to the spine. If a ladder is carried properly it can be good exercise... I spent a good two years carrying a ladder completely wrong!

As long as you have a good grip and balance it well on your shoulder, you shouldn't feel much weight. I grip the 4th from bottom rung and slightly tip the ladder over my shoulder.

Too right RJA. My ladder weighs 13kg and I just consider a good workout for the body.....so long as you lift It and carry it correctly.

I only use step ladders, because I'm 6 ft 6 and any job I'm prepared to do being 5 steps off floor is safe and enough. If I need to get on roofs I get my lad onboard.

Looking up when using a wfp for any length of time will put stress on your neck, shoulders & back.

That's why I use one of these on some jobs which I found helps alot.

Listen guys this water fed pole thing is a really big issue for the back neck and joints its just so unhealthy id rather do ladder work ,besides now matter how light the poles are you have to scrub with them looking up and usually in aquard spots where your back gets allot of stress really this should be avoided at all costs ,mabee if your worried about back do shopfronts only no ladder, short pole or get a better job i sometimes fell we are sellimg our backs and joints in this job

Thanks for feed back guys. I know from watching others do it it could give aches but I'm thinking that's down to using muscles you don't usually use. How would you say it compares to lifting ladders all day?
