ELT 230 is the makers code for the Lyte ladders i use . these are 10 rung trade doubles . many other windies prefer 12 rung doubles or 11 rung , its all down to preference View attachment 3071you dont want any sort of folding ladder as in your image Scottie, you want a trade double ladder like my image here. the make of it is not so important but it defo wants to be a Trade and not a Domestic ladder

Cheers guys, for a newbie, what would you all sugest I get, somthing thats safe and reliable, I liekthe look of the ELT 230 boarcity has mentioned and dave you use them but in 14 rung, wow thats big (bet all the ladies say that )lol.

If there are any that you guys recomend that will do me proud thats great. £100.00 thats not too bad either, what extra safty could i get for the ELT 230 if i was to get them? I would feel safer as a newbie having soe extra safty equipment like non sliding or going to side. I dont mind setting up a alittle taking a minute or so, rather start safe and you cna always move it one once set if moving across to next window. Thanks again.

I have deffo made the decision now though to go ladder and I wotn have ladders until they arrive once choosen, so I am going out and starting to flyer the bungalows as there loads on my area so will get them done then when ladders here hit all the houses, may as well start now rather than wait, and if they say clean now, I can:)

Buzzing now, finaly going to do it:) wow! I think this last decsion to go ladder is a wise one, one that i made based on what you guys have advised.

expect to be proper scared when you first climb your ladder . you wont be holding on at the top with both hands cos 1 hand has to soap up and then change tools to a squeegee . but this is all part of the windie experience .

the only safety extra to use with ladders worth having [in my opinion] are ladder spikes . these small pieces of steel bolt on the stiles at the bottom of your ladder and they " dig in" to the ground surface ,giving much improved grip over standard feet

i think i mentioned this once before Scottie , if you wanted to come out for a day with my crew of 4 just to get a feel for the job,my offer stands . you would pick up a lot of ladder know how ,its up to you. others on the forum have also offered something similar , if you are near any forum members id take them up on their offer

I would offer the same but off to turkey for a week next Wednesday so playing catchup now

Don't wanna lose any money or have loads to do when i get back

But after that you could

Ankalad is the best device around but takes time to use and is about 90 quid

I only use it occasionally but when it will save my life

As for ladders really all you'll need is a 11 rung double ladder ,11 because that usually sits under standard windows without problems and a modern ladder won't kill you lifting it /emoticons/wink.png
Well scottie, this must all seem very confusing. Ladders used to be standard, so a double 11 was considered best, but now they vary a bit. The old d11 would be about 3.4m. When looking to but, check length

Boarcity, thank you very much for the offer, that is really good of you. I will let you no if I can make it, I am from south essex, so should not be a real issue to get to you. Really appriciate that you have the good nature to help others, nice one. I am just so busy with sorting ladders, flyers, insurance, web site, facebook etc etc etc as you no and on top my dads in hospital, so all a bit of a mad one.

I liek the lyte ELT 235 ladders 12 runs would suit me more I think, I assume the 10 is for peeps whom are more used to climbing, I assume. So are these good ladders to get then for myself. I also looked at the anti slip mats to or theat bolt thing that you can attach to the bottom of the ladder and fixes down to stop slidding. I like the anklad also, that also just folds up and would only a take a minute to set up, that stops slding and sideways, very safe, i would lose a house a day setting that up, but that would be fine with me. not seem many other safty features, the standard feet on a wet icey day, are they ok? deffo need some ant slip stuff or spikes.

Thans again for the offer, fantastic stuff and will let you no if I can make it and thanks also Daveyboy1.

Just look forward to getting it all brought and start doing it...hopefully monday I will be rolling out all guns blazing with flyers and bunlgow attack, then when ladders are here, sort that, so would be good to come out and see you and get the tips for ladder use for an hour or so. Can not get a better offer than that.

Seeing as I wil be up the ladderss, what BOAB do you all recommend? Any links to purchase, I have a account with WCA but not sure what belt is best, not over fussed on spending loads, but somthign that will do the job and tried and tested by you guys. /emoticons/smile.png Thanks

If you have a ninja squeegee you will need a ninja boab

The channels are bigger and in a normal boab the channel sticks sometimes and then pulls the release clip for the rubber open so you pull out squeegee minus the rubber

Other wise any will do

I use a binja one anyway as they have more room so the rubber don't dent as much on the edge

Cheers Daveyboy1 - cheers, Not sure what one to get, there pricey aint they, I only really need the belt and holder thats over £30.

BTW - This is the ladder I will go foe, someon on here mentioned it. I am sure its ok and will serve me as a window cleaner and 2.5 meters means I cand put it in my car insead of putting on the roof, its all about cost at the moment, setting up as you all no is expensive and I am fighting my pennies, its real hard working it all out, I hope these are recommended by you guys, what do you think http://www.midlandladders.com/products/Triple_2_5m_8ft2_Trade_Light_Industrial_Ladder-21-7.html

They look good and I will get the foot the ladder with it, as I like the idea of safty as I am new to it all. Please let me no if you think that set up will be good enough for me. Thank you. All I need now is to learn how to put them up correctly. lol - so much learning, whom said window cleaning was easy....... I just can not wait to get started, my final bit of kit and I am out there then......Thanks again in advance.

I am looking for a ladder that is 2.5 meters in length when folded, so I cna get it in the car. I have seen a window cleaner round here do it in a similar size car, but not seen him since. The only one I have seen is the one I posted a link to in a previous post.

Does anyone know of any at this size that would do the job. Its 3 parts, I would prefer a double but need it to be 5 meters for the 2nd floor windows.

Could I ask if you feel this ladder is good enough for my window cleaning, it will fit in my car and save me having to lay out for a roof rack etc, money is tight, I can do all that in the future. Not sure if it is trade, but some of you mentioned the name in previous posts.
