Homemade alternative to backpack.

So I've opened up the box the first time since building it and I've realised that the fuse is on the other side of the switch to how I've done it in the diagram... I'm guessing that's no biggie?

defo no biggie....wish i had the guts to build one...maybe one day..

johnny.......I fitted a socket, the small round thing on the side in pic 5. I fitted the plug onto a 12v charger that I already have.

Hi, I am trying to understand the type and use of the relay switch, sorry I not that knowledgeable about electronics...

I have tried reading up on them and watching YouTube videos, but I can't mach up what I am reading/hearing with the circut diagram in post #82 above.

Can anyone explain in simple language please.

  • What type of relay - normally open or normally closed.
  • What amp rated relay is needed and why.
  • How it protects the pressure switch.
  • Why is it wired permanantly to the power instead of after the on/off switch.

Many thanks.

Hi WWC. I,m no electrical expert but it works something like.....The current running to the pump is cut by the pressure switch on the pump when you stop/start the water flow. Now every time the pressure switch works a flash or spark goes across the connections of the pressure switch. After a certain time, the pressure switch will burn out due to the constant use.

The relay is put in to take the load of the pump pressure switch, so, the relay does the work instead.

You don't need to put a relay in but the pump pressure switch will burn out quicker if you don't

I use something like these 40amp or 30amp

Its gardiners pole hose mate. I put the whole 30 metres on there. Fits on easy. The reel is from wilkinsons only £15. make sure you get the small £15 one, NOT the £16 one. Heres the link

Jimmy,

How did you get the WFP hose to go through the reel and then to connect to the pump hose? What are those fittings? I bought a reel from toolstation, and just looking at how to modify it so i can use it on a trolley. Thanks in advance!

I have enjoyed this very informative post. I was wondering how many houses one 25l container can do. Lets say just the top windows... With an average of five windows per house. Just a rough amount of which I am looking for? Thank you???
