Hi all,

I'm going to have a look at a van with this system in today, the guy tells me it was factory fitted about three years ago, but that was all he could really tell me. I'd really appreciate your opinions on what you think I should look out for? Also using your vast experience what size tank and GPD output would you say this system could be????

Cheers all

That looks to me like a 300 gpd ro & 10" very small di canister - not really good enough for fast filling a van tank if you ask me.

Size of tank would be at least a 250 or maybe more but is hard to tell from the pic.

If that is a 300 ro then they are very slow and could possibly take 10-15 hours to fill that tank , still saying that it would be a system I'd be proud to own myself

I also reckon its a 300gpd ro which will only give about 600 litres in 24 hours.

That tank is at least 450 litres.

You'd never get out to work with this set up.

It will take so long to fill the van.

Better off taking out the ro and di and installing it at home feeding a 650 litre tank, then use a transfer hose and pump into your van.

So all the stuff looks good, but just need to move the ro etc out of the van.

Thanks for all your replys  but now you've got me worried:confused:!!! Cuz I took the 2hour drive to have a look and after two more hours of chit chat, tea, test drive, deminstration and practice, I am now the very proud owner of an immaculate 2008 Renault Trafic with a three year old factory fitted pure freedom van mounted system   ( this s##t just got serious :rof:). Now due to family comittments and time restraints, I am only going to work for 6hrs a day Mon-Thurs and 4hrs on a Friday, so I would like think the 400ltr tank should be sufficient volume to do between 10-15 jobs a day within this time? I am currently working using a Brodex 650 ltr RO system and this tank with my water pressure generally takes around 4 - 4.5 hours to fill from near on empty, I'm told my water pressure is extremely good compared to the guy I work for, it took him between 10-12 hours to fill it before he had a booster pump fitted. So i hope I was right in thinking the higher the water pressure the quicker the tank will fill up? What do you think boys? I have emailed Pure asking for as much information regarding the system as poss, so hopefully I will know exactly what I'm working with.

Thanks again

Only working part time the set up you have will do fine m8, I work 3 days a week with my 100gpd it's all about turning that tap on every opportunity you get

I have a pure freedom van mount (4 years now) and touch wood have had no problems at all. I have a 350ltr tank with a 40/40 ro it takes from completely empty 3 hrs 40 mins to fill. I am sure if you want any advice, parts ect pure freedom will be happy to help

I have the same 300 gpd ro static in my garden that fills 1000 litre ibc tanks. For you to find out yourself for sure as a test just drain the van tank completely then see how long it takes to fill. Trust me it will take several hours so why the hell pf put that small ro in a van mount beats me.

The standard size ro fitted to a van mount is a 4040 which is also what brodex use for a good reason.

Stitched up like a kipper springs to mind as you will now have to fork out for a decent ro/di set up for it

All you gotta do is take out the ro and set it up as a static system at home and buy a static tank to fill from the ro. Then transfer the pure into your van, each day.

It will be good.

Van looks good and the system components all look good.

Shurflo pump, varistream, autofill on the tank etc.

Just needs a little bit of tweaking thats all.

Nice one.

But he wanted a van mount....At least the tank is bolted down I suppose /emoticons/biggrin.png

Thanks all, I know this is a small RO set up, as I understand it the system will produce around 300 US gallons ie 1134 ltrs every 24 hours, 567 per 12 hours, I kept reading that to decrease the time it takes to produce the pure you can install a booster pump to increase the amount of water going through the RO, my water pressure is extreamaly high so I was hoping this would reduce the filling time for me some what? Was I being unrealistic?

Yes in a nutshell it is being unrealistic as the amount of work you want that small ro to do it is not fit for purpose for a van mount bud.

But if it is rated at 300gpd it will in real life probably only produce half that, hence why i said earlier 600 litres in 24 hours, but i think mine takes less than that, I have similar kit to your ro.

I also have high water pressure, 80 psi.

I fitted a diy autofil on my static tank and so i just leave the water on all the time, and it keeps it topped up.

Works well for me, so should be fine for you also.

Or you could try adding a pump to fill your van as it is. Ive never used a pump before the ro so dont know what its like or wether it affects tds.

Thanks for your comments, I think ? (Bit gutted to be honest :-() thanks for your advice PTWC might be asking you for more advice shortly if that's o.k?, going to test water pressure tomorrow to see exactly what psi I'm running at, then I can compare it to yours to give me an idea of what way to go.... Looks like Greeners guna be cleaning out the garage :whew: LOL.

Don't worry about it bud as sounds like you have a nice van but it is just the ro/di setup that lets that system down. Like I said before just do a test to see how long it takes to fill as if your not very busy might just do fine for now./emoticons/wink.png

Assuming it only fills at 600 litres per 24 hours that's 450 litres in 18 hours.

If you're only working 6 hours a day then that leaves 18 hours to fill the tank.

Cleaning 10-15 houses s day I'd be surprised if you used more than 300 litres anyway so taking 12 hours to fill.

So in conclusion; if you start it filling when you get home in the afternoon, it should be full before you start the next morning. ie. No problem!

It's only when you get busier/work more hours that you'll need to consider increasing your water production capacity.

Thanks ExtremecleanSussex  picking the van up on Sunday so we will soon see. Defentely going to see how it goes, more than likely going to set up a static in the garage as suggested. To be honest I'm only just starting out so my round is fairly small at the mo  but fingers crossed this time next year I'll be running a whole fleet of vans LOL :balloondance:
