Perplexed new starter

Not necessarily

I still have room to earn lots more trad

23 years in the job gives me the speed and quality of work i need

one story that amused me was a guy trying to sell a wfp transit + round on the forum. he was in his 60s and had bought a stonking big round with his redundancy money - but then found within hours of setting to on the big list that he was totally unfit .

I am absolutely convinced that once again I will entertain my ignorance here - but I believe that to earn my £50k p.a. target I would need to use water fed poles. At least less hassle and most likely quicker.

Lol, its very easy to underestimate just how much fitness is needed for this job. Lots of walking, climbing and carrying makes for a hard days graft.

I wonder if this dude is still going at it. if he is then I bet hes lost some pud since starting.

Aw... I find it rather sad. No one wants to find himself being old in such an embarrassing and expensive way. He could have started jogging or work out to top up his strength instead, although if he persevered water fed poles would have made him stronger, eventually. And make him live longer.

I am glad Peter Griffin got off his sofa and got some real job instead of perpetually pestering Brian and dealing with Stewie's evil master plans of world domination.

Have you heard the word??[media]

Nooooooooooooooo! What have you done, David? Don't you realise that to get rid of this tune is immeasurably more difficult than to scrape year's old bird poo off the white PVC window frame?!!

Arrrggghhh.... :confused:o_O

...and bird the bird, bird bird is the word, and bird the bird, bird bird, bird is the word...:eek:

what made it worse was that another windie had helped him buy this big round. the idea was great but the flesh wasnt willing !

he was the one that Everybody was willing to make it- i recall he started off trad with wagtail ,but then rapidly had gone WFP with brand new gear donated by the makers , im trying to recall his second name so i can google him , his first name is Gerald

I am fairly sure many people fed themselves quite well on his round when it was for sale here.

Of course. And that is my plan exactly once I have my base of customers. Doing windows in a traditional way I would hit financial plateau ever so fast.
im still trad after 6 yrs and its true you reach your physical limit with trad and can do no more - after 2 yrs i had reached mine and it was killing me. no joke! when on arrival at each new house i wondered was this the one that broke the camels back

but if you then employ ,dont linger at break point , then the job suddenly gets a whole lot easier and you earn more for sure

Oh no, I wouldn't dare employing anyone. I am a perfectionist and fairly paranoid about anyone else doing my round. Nobody does my round better than me and treats my clients better than I do - that's my philosophy.

I am rather bemused by some people here saying that they consolidate their rounds, making them super profitable by dropping "inconvenient", small money or alike clients. I am not here to judge, but it is increasingly clear to me that these people to them are just banknotes of a different value (sorry if I am offending anyone, this is rather unintentional).

They were there for you when you were starting, helped you to put bread on your table, but now when you are in a full swing you drop them? What, until some other desperate beginner comes to pick them where you left? They are alive, feeling people, you know - and many of them are of not great means if their windows don't pay much. We need to look after each other and love people regardless how rich we are now.

Some day when we are really old and unable to work we will have many, many days to think and recall things that we have done - and we definitely won't be this willing to recall how we left people who were there for us in our hour of need - whether knowingly or not - by exchanging them for a better piece of a life pie.

I do not want to come across as some holy one - but is it not how this world deteriorated? Being a window cleaner may not look much - but I think that sometimes clean windows and someone knocking on your door may mean a lot to some people, especially if they are old or simply lonely or depressed. We all been there.

I know it is a bit philosophical - but this is my viewing angle.
