Well, at least it is not on a desperate and sad note as when it started! Although I still will keep you posted about my progress to keep it in line with my topic to motivate current and future starters.Welcome to window cleaning forums, where every single thread goes off topic. lol /emoticons/biggrin.png
Heavens...Window cleaning is far easier on the body than most manual work.
More acid house and family guy please.
Well, in his situation it's probably not only the money but also his dear life!View attachment 5279 geralds still going !!!/ i just sent him a text and he replied ,told me hes back at it . THE MAN !!!!!!!!!!
I think you might be misunderstanding some of the comments here. I can't speak for everyone, but I think you'll find that when most people on here are talking about ditching the bad ones they are talking about the bad customers that pay late, mess you about by not opening gates, talk down to you, cancel you off for stupid reasons etc. These reasons are irrespective to a person's income or status. Often the customer can become a burden that ends up costing you money, or worst ...sleep. So one good perk of the job is to be able to get rid of this stress like you would a sore stomach; with one almighty fart... BANG, and the dirt is gone. /emoticons/biggrin.pngOh no, I wouldn't dare employing anyone. I am a perfectionist and fairly paranoid about anyone else doing my round. Nobody does my round better than me and treats my clients better than I do - that's my philosophy.I am rather bemused by some people here saying that they consolidate their rounds, making them super profitable by dropping "inconvenient", small money or alike clients. I am not here to judge, but it is increasingly clear to me that these people to them are just banknotes of a different value (sorry if I am offending anyone, this is rather unintentional).
They were there for you when you were starting, helped you to put bread on your table, but now when you are in a full swing you drop them? What, until some other desperate beginner comes to pick them where you left? They are alive, feeling people, you know - and many of them are of not great means if their windows don't pay much. We need to look after each other and love people regardless how rich we are now.
Some day when we are really old and unable to work we will have many, many days to think and recall things that we have done - and we definitely won't be this willing to recall how we left people who were there for us in our hour of need - whether knowingly or not - by exchanging them for a better piece of a life pie.
I do not want to come across as some holy one - but is it not how this world deteriorated? Being a window cleaner may not look much - but I think that sometimes clean windows and someone knocking on your door may mean a lot to some people, especially if they are old or simply lonely or depressed. We all been there.
I know it is a bit philosophical - but this is my viewing angle.
Absolutely. £0 or £93 - the difference is so obvious! I guess I need to do my best to get as many customers before Christmas festivities when many want their windows cleaned. Good timing.Keep going ryskviking93 quid is better than where you were the other day
Well, there are times when you are forced to abandon some - if they don't pay or you simply never find them or can contact them to clarify the matter.Cut out the dead wood not nice paying custys
Yes, I agree. Nasty ones have to go. That's the beauty of this job - you can let clients go without any financial repercussions. Had to let go at least one such one who plainly refused to pay after I have cleaned her windows - but she was outright weird from day one, I should have known better.I think you might be misunderstanding some of the comments here. See if you can get him on here.gerald had a hernia, and kept going. tells me now has an electric car to cart his gear in .
Yes, I have read Bear Grills' autobiography where he explained that during SAS selection course not those most physically fit got through - but who were most strong-minded and kept plodding regardless. And the list of his victories is quite long: old Etonian, black karate belt, SAS soldier, mended his spine broken in 3 places after parachuting accident in South Africa, climbed Everest after that, got through selection process of French Legion, got across North Atlantic in an open inflatable boat, has an outstandingly successful TV career, is a chief scout, major of marine commandos, has his own clothing line, sells and flies paragliders, is a motivational speaker and most likely a millionaire... And a husband to a beautiful wife and a father to a few great boys. And still looking quite unassuming and down to earth.I always say it to anyone just startingOf you ain't knocking doors you ain't earning money
Only way to do it is keep plodding on even when you have a bad day and feel well and truly demoralised
Um... I don't think he will appreciate our Peter Griffin jokes though.said hes going to get back on the forums .
I'm sure you can out run him....lol. /emoticons/biggrin.pngUm... I don't think he will appreciate our Peter Griffin jokes though.
Not only messing - but admiring! I mean it. Someone of his condition gets out of his house no matter what. That's a mind over matter for you.I'm sure you can out run him....lol. /emoticons/biggrin.png
Sorry Gerald if you're reading, just messing.
