How long should a ro last?

Hi I live in Essex and water here straight out of the tap is 470.

When I got a new 40/40 Ro (about 13 months ago) it was taking the water down to 025 before it was going through the resin .

Now it's up 034 before going through the d.i is this normal?

As i'm having to change the resin nearly every month now as it shoots up a lot quicker.

From 470 t0 034 is still roughly about about 93% so is it worth getting a bigger d.i or even two of them?

Any advise would be great thanks.

yes i cant offer advice coz i not strictly totally in with the force but others will be along shortly to answer....in the mean time...

Thanks , blimey that's low where abouts do you live ? I have a guy working for me a few days a week so sometimes I produce 800 a night so maybe I'm expecting to much with that high tap water reading .

I live in Essex my water is roughly 375, when I got the 4040 it bought it down to 8/9, now it is 4 years old it brings it down to 18.

At a tap reading of 470 and no softener then yes about right as the calcium in the water would be clogging up the membranes.

Any ideas how much a water softener set up would cost?
About £90 + you will need a small 10" vessel to regenerate the resin

A water softener is essential. My RO is now on its 7th year and only changed the prefilter and DI once a year and produce 000ppm to 002ppm thats @ 500L per week

Tap water @ 275ppm

10" Vessel is way too small. You need a min 7 litre vessel. Yes we do build water softeners but what I always tell customers is way up to cost of salt for regeneration to the cost of a new membrane.

A softener will also enhance the performance of your membrane in some areas where the ppm may come down meaning less money spent on resin.

It all depends on your water structure though.

So could you explain what we would need to get and how is it set up and works please.

Some pics ould be good too. Many thanks
