I don't get all the animosity between fellow windiesWe're all in the same boat trying to feed the family and keep a roof over our heads

Way i see it if we can help each other then that is a good thing

For example i just found out a forum member is from my town so told him where i know there is no windie as i don't need anymore for now

Why not help rather than be rude for the sake of it

SPOT ON!! This is why I was so angry, I was going to say I am a windy and are you saying my method is ****? Your going to go to houses I do and tell them trad is ****? as your flyering my street where I clean and your telling them trad is **** and not a good clean. I was just of the opinion sell your work your business and is there any need to slag off others. I may well do WFP one day but at prsent I just feel trad is for me as I can see my work plus I feel like a windy doing it lol. Just was a bit shocked by the attack on trad style, he did go on and on about how poor it was, that was only a short part I wrote about.

I am worried now as he is in my area telling people trad is **** and proven insufficent clean and everyone is doing WFP now. Is this business going to get to the stage where everyone is a window cleaner coz they can WFP? Its going to be a war one day people nicking custys off each other as not enough to go round lol.

Well put Daveyboy1 - I came on here and got so much help and to have that in my face today was a shock and not only no another guy diggin trad here not the first and in my area, I got no hope now...... I been dong it 4 weeks now and only have 16 customers and some quotes too, plus lots of my firneds will join in new year. Just worry now this numpty will steal it all as seems like there is a few of them in the business. Grrrr

Thats me out saturday now door knocking 10-4 my feet are killling already....

It's a really hard choice to make the move from trad to wpf. But after my change I'm finding it the best choice ever made. wish i made it years ago. I found is not to rush it all at onse, but gradually change over customers.

Yeh ladder are hard work, but wfp can be hard work to. I did a whole day wfp including several 3 storey hosues and my neck and shoulder ached.

Talk about easy stick waggling, customer comes out toaday seeing my wfp and says can i do her velux windows in roof.

Well really green only 3 small windows so I say yeh £10 (10 mins). Job done happy customer, happy me. now every 2 months. (will be even easier) might post pics.

Does it kill your neck and back? I tried it once and i thought **** this it killed my neck, I jst felt fair play its actually harder than ladders on your neck/back all day. Maybe skills come into it to help make it easier.

Going on prices, I charge £10 for a 3 bedroom 6 windows and two doors, would a WFP guy charge more? I would think so, its intersting to know? The running costs muct be large and the work load also after a days work to get water ready etc and equipment maintained must take some time and £££ - I would change over if I could no the windows uptairs would be perfect, I just do not like not knowing what the sill looks like as can not see it or the window close up if any marks are there....

No I don't think so. There has to be a considerable financial investment that will put off most. Most start up's are like yourself Scottie and go Trad. There are a number of new guys on here, so it appears more people are trying the business. This does not mean they will like it, or can stick the bad weather, or are disciplined enough to get up and get out there.

Window cleaning is not for everyone.

Your right mate, I am new to this but I know in my heart this is suited to me, I love outdoors, winter does not put me off at all, quite like it. I am a bit down of late getting custys but gotta stick it, it can only get better.

It can make your neck and shoulders ache if u do it allday, just like ladder work knackers your knees and legs after a hard day. But it gets easier with practice and technique.

I've been told on here that if you step forward and backward with the pole rather than using your arms too much it helps.

Pricing wise i don't go out to charge extra for wfp work because it's generally easier and quicker, so u make the same money to cover cost of water because you do it quicker and can get more jobs done.

Whoa! I've spent 3 years in Holland - first 18 months in Amsterdam (5 minutes walk from Rijksmuseum), and last 18 months - in Alkmaar. I miss Holland, if I had a chance I'd go back.

Heavens... From my point of view Dutch girls are one of the prettiest in the world (although Swedish probably would steal the crown here). Still, Dutch girls are proper heart stoppers - and my female beauty standards are really high!
