White aluminium coated frames

I didn't do a runner!! i'm still here, just about.

A lovely german lady has asked me to clean the windows on her architect design house, the frames are quite dirty and she mentioned that so she will be expecting them done nicely. Is there a problem cleaning these frames? are they going to smear?

It's a good earner this house and she has hinted she wants it done regular, just don't want to mess it up.

If it's fairly old paint, it will be degrading and you'll notice the water on the ground is white. If this is the case you'll need to rinse a couple of times without the brush on glass/frame or you'll be left with really streaky windows.

It will take years to get the water running clear; I do an aluminium door and the water's still coming off white after five years!

Clean them once and leave well alone in the future, I mean the frames. Aluminium is a nightmare for water runs after you've moved to the next job. I always just clean the glass on them and am very careful to just tickle the top edge of the glass with the brush. If you're looking to keep this job and she wants the frames coming up clean, I'd go over all the frames and rinse them first. When they have stopped dripping, clean just the glass and never touch the frames ever again. Or if you have to clean the frames in the future, brush over them without water flowing.

Myself I just don't clean houses with ali frames full stop now as they are just too much a pain in the ****.

Or just get the ladders out and trad them

It's good to trad ali frames as once wiped they are dry and won't run

Got your pm other day made me laugh. I cleaned a house other day, got it packed away the ladders that is and the women cam out and said its dirty, I went back took ladders out and looked harder its all on the inside. Grrr - I hope custys dont do this often lol - but I loved your story with the women saying she had a windy and changing her mind - keep on it mate, just do your best on it!!!

BTW - she must have gone upstairs when i finished and before i pulled away checked the windows lol, had a chuckle to myself it was on the inside, (in your face) ha ha.

Cheers for the advice as always guys, I will be careful with this one.

Scottie- It's the area mate, instead of driving out to the houses with easy side access, driveways and what I would consider ''cream'' work, i'm doing the houses where parking is a nightmare, the houses are awkward, need a ladder to jump up on the tiles etc and that's started working for me.

I spent too much time knocking doors non stop in an area which was well covered, really I knew it was well tied up but the determination kept me doing it longer than I would now if I hit an area like that with no results. Dust off move on.

''tea and biscuits next time'' is what I would have said to that customer Scottie. Or a fiver for taking the ladders off.

Ha Ha, Nice one Guy, thats a postive move. I been hitting the more bigger houses and tbh found there tight as **** and a little boring/rude. I think I will hit the terrace houses in town, the not so nice houses, the doors are all close together so easy knocking, I been spreading my door knocking all over in different areas, to see where works, I think I am in a busy area for windys, even a window cleaner said that to me other day here. I am looking further field and traveling down to try to capture it.

Got some good advice there good luck on it!
