This is the reason why i hate going to quote industrial units

You couldn't throw that away! Case it in formaldehyde and put it in the smurf museum of gutter curios

I've just requested a quote to scaffold the back of the building to see how much it would cost to do the job safely as is the only way I can see anyone wanting to sort it out for them.

How much do you recon the quote would be?

No idea, good friend of mine is a boss at a hire firm..... which comes in handy /emoticons/smile.png

So would I only if the client pays for the scaffolding directly to the firm that installs it,

Not as of yet but should have 2 quotes by end of play today and will let you know.

I can see it running into thousands though including my labour to do the job. However what other options do they have as there are no other safe access methods I would consider in this case due to the width of the path, type of ground & bank being in the way.

Indeed. A new building will cost them more :). I was imagining two days labour for £400, or am I cheap?

I'm setting up my 'manual kit' today, should have some pics to post later hopefully. Posted you a link smurf In your inbox

Well I've had one scaffold firm come back to me with an estimate of £2,000 - £2,500. The price will be dependant on a site visit.

id have quoted £5oo and had it done in a day . by the looks could have took off downpipe and pulled, wrestled it downwards then removed tree out the top . the difficult bit would be how the downpipe was held onto the wall , rusted bolts praps

So how would you get to the guttering?

2 grand for a scaffold tower? can't you just hire one for a couple of hundred quid and do it yourself? I would.

I would get it done though one way or another, but not for that kind of money, I would be more in boars price range.

the trouble with jobs like this is....the not knowing factor...the hidden bits that lurk to turn it into a pain..../emoticons/biggrin.png
what would they be?

So how would you get to the guttering?
it looked like a ladder job, course i couldnt see how high it was but unless above house height id have used a ladder and possibly builders trowels to ladel out the muck . if you were scared of sideslip [of the ladder] praps id use a wide standoff, set above the gutter line

Why would you need scaffolding the entire length of the building?

If ladder is unusable due to ground etc as you say and a scaffolding is needed just use a tower and move it along as you go?

You would struggle to get to the inside of the guttering by ladders and not forgetting the uneven ground and mud.:D

You would also struggle using a tower for the same reason plus you could not use outriggers on it as the gap is only 1m wide between the wall of the building and bank.
