I've been helping out looking after the little one for about 2 weeks now and I just can't be arsed with work anymore.

Does anyone else get days that you just can't be arsed with going out to work?

Yes me today,

When I set up I only ever wanted to do a 3 day week,I'm 50 now with a tiny mortgage ,missus works mornings at school as an assistant, but

We have learnt to appreciate Time.....with 2 at secondary school it is great to share time, and walking etc, helping with sports club etc gives us free hobbies.....and after a day off I feel re-charged to go again

I suppose it's an emotional thing.....Time ........you don't know how much ya got......and I ain't waiting to retire to find out!

Oh yes! every monday morning! But once i am out there it soon passes! /emoticons/wink.png I dont think this time of year helps either /emoticons/biggrin.png

Thats the way to do it Andy. In a few years time, I want to start reducing the workload so that me and the Mrs can spend a bit more time doing the things we like....walking, gardening, drinking and daydreaming. Might get a little campervan and explore Britain.

My son who is 14 has just started coming out with me on saturdays

He is 6'2" so has no problem with cleaning the bottoms

So i am setting the wheels in motion for someone to run my business in a few years while i sit back lol

You are my new idol Andy - Nice to see someone understands that there are things more valuable than money and working like a dog.

You have actually inspired me as I have been toying with the idea of selling a portion of my round to bring down the work load and your post has given me the push to do it. Still a bit too young to go to a 3 day week but no reason to work a Friday if I dont want to. /emoticons/smile.png

My thanks to you Andy.

As for Smurf............not being arsed is human nature.......some days the deja vu has me positively homicidal

burnout is a real risk when you are a lone worker . dont wanna be a doom merchant but longer you slog on alone more you risk it

i was close to burnout at year 2 and my family kept saying " sir you look worn out- downsize, then chug on for the next 20 yrs you likely will be ok"

you look worn out.chug on,,, that was lovely to hear ,,,not / and they never called me sir

i then bit the bullet an took on a helper

family now started saying "youre a lazy sod" jus cos i had a parttime helper!

took me a while to get a handle on employing , basically i learned to take no sh/t and now at year 7 iv 3 proper ass kickin fulltimers work for me and altho im still on the ladders i choose what i want to do ,

iv never felt better and love the job

Smurf get yourself an assistant. Then you have to go out and work. It makes the day easier, and if all goes well, in time you can delegate more work to him/her while you do the quotes and paperwork.
