hi, my first post on the forum I'm currently installing a wfp system in my van! Reading the threads on here have been a great help sure iv learnt a great lot so thanks too all. But what else do you keep in the van to help i.e. chems, type of cloths, spares parts things like that? i like to do a job right and even tho i have no experience of window cleaning I'm sure ill get it right (hopefully lol) i was a roof slate and tiler since i left school for 12 years but snapped my ACL in my knee 1 1/2 years ago and after a reconstruction and a long hard of rehabilitation iv decided in a new occupation thats easy on my knee but still outdoors and physical enough too keep me happy! any useful info for a newbie is all welcome cheers

lol not really smurf even though i snapped my acl playing football I'm going wfp allmthe way but will still offer gutter clearing off a ladder

I snapped my cruciate ligament playing footy. I walked off the pitch and drove myself to the hospital. They operated the next day. No stretcher for Tuffers

As for what you need in your van; tools like pliers, screwdrivers, a knife, things like that really. Always have spare parts of things that may break like connectors.

Best you don't get a small van would be my first bit of advice as you will soon outgrow it,

Hi Remy

At last another ex roofer to prove to smurf we're not all psychotic nutters intent on killing ourselves

No but is funny to hear roofers turn to window cleaning instead as they can make a killing doing roofs surely? /emoticons/biggrin.png

tuffers do you keep any bottles of products and cloths? iv got a 12 plate vivaro smurf iv already thought about growth of the business I'm putting a 2man 800L tank in the back

I gave up years ago when i moved out of london away from my mums other half who i worked for

Its dangerous work as I've known personally 3 roofer that never came home to their wife and kids.

roofing is some serious graft if your doing it properly! but you need good young lads around you to make some serious money tho! but after the recession the **** fell out of the trade and its not really recovered

My mate is a builder and says pretty much the same thing

Especially with our eastern block friends undercutting him

put it this way after my apprenticeship i was just what you called a (tilers mate) i was on £450 a week at 19-20 year old, no worries no stress of running a job sorting lads out and material! 10 years later and your struggling to earn £500 pw with all the stress and working a lot harder

I was on the trowel back in the eighties and H&S seemed none existant back then. I've seen way too much nasty stuff over they years so that's why I'm a bit of a H&S freak now.

yeah construction industry leading the way with h&s! but too the point where its replacing common sense!!! half the even if you do get a good price for a good they want it doing in a way that just crazy and time consuming so a good price turns into a shite price

Yes, loads of scrim, sill cloths, microfibres, Virosol, uPVC solvent, Ecover, sticky stuff remover and cream cleaner, oh and WD-40.

Welcome m8, I find its best to double up on everything that's breakable and thus usually is the case after a year or so ,I've a tub with all sorts in just incase , I find green pads, cream cleanser, virosol just some of the usual stuff I take daily aswel as a big bag of microfibre clothes I usually use 3 daily ,Allen keys, plies and screwdrivers also come in handy for pole repair and maintenance.
