I can see both points regarding the frames. On first cleans i always give the frames a good scrub. After that its normally just the glass unless they are obviously mucky and need a quick sweep of my brush. But if a customer specifically asks me to clean frames, then I will charge extra.

i picked up a gd few last week and 2 were from trad men they were charging fiver for a house but frames were real bad i charge 8 as can do 4 houses an hour if they in same street ( this is after there first clean lol) do any trad men do first cleans that nclude frames aswell

yep me a bi what er I ER do both methods..

in fact one I do today I was planning to trad to just keep an eye close up on things but...

I am fast running out of time so ...maybe next time....

yep when I first clean I always clean the frames as well you have to really as surely if you are not careful all the muck would end up back on the glass and of course it looks good in the custys eyes and anyway these days as I charge double..they pay for it..

although some houses are pure wfp I will still trad from time to time to check em...

but of course pure water cleaning lasts longer...

gotta wind up tolish cant help it...

I always do the frames and am trad

A window imo is glass, frame and sill

I have had a bit of work round here from a dodgy wfp guy who does nothing about the sills and 1 new job the glass was clean and the sills were green

Too many cowboys using both methods if you ask me

yep both but I try and dodge the :turd: glass...

only started wfp last summer and love it...

but I love to trad too..

and trad doesnt leave the windows wet

dont get them going on which is best ...as that will go on forever.

only one custy moaned so far..so I just changed back to trad for him..

although I too do get....can you clean traditionally? enquiries...

il take a pic of the street i picked up las week 11 houses 1 street dont need to move van to do them horrah they on a new devolpment site and they say there will be 1000 more houses built by 2017

This is my best road in the whole town

Only goes up to number 89 including the flats

I have 7 ground and 1st floor flats and 8 houses all next to each other except 1 in the middle i don't do

The flats are only £7 as only have 3 windows but the houses are all 15 and 1 is 20 so 174 quid without moving the motor

There is actually another house i do there but that is my father in laws and he is the only freebie i do for anybody

How do you clean these over the garage 0 Degree on the pole?

Yeah..am thinking about a wagtail but the 0° works fine with my modded channels

In case you don't know I am a traditional window cleaner, I also happen to be the most expensive window cleaner on 'my turf'

I am with RS and Davey that the 'Window' is the glass pane, frames and sills. My price (always more than others) Includes the frames and sills.

Only once have I ever been asked 'how much without frames?' And I said, 'Same price, I include the frames and sills for nothing as I am here anyhow.'

'Oh wow that's real nice of you, you can have the job'

Always tell the customer the frames and sills are included at no extra charge. We get 95% of all jobs we quote.

Also remember that by 'cleaning' of frames and sills I am only talking of giving them a good clean 1st time with a soapy wet rag. After that it's a quick wipe with a damp rag to maintain, we certainly aren't talking PVC restoration here.

P.S.Pricing for us starts at £10 for bungalows / mid terrace house etc - most others around here are £5 - £6

Be reliable, be reasonable, never haggle with them, do the job right and you can always charge top dollar.

The way i do it is soap the window properly..wipe the frames over so it don't matter if you go over on to the glass then squeegee the glass

No hassle and happy customer

Ahh Davey, must be a London lad thing, doing a job properly, no pride up north where not doing framework is acceptable practice next to a deep fried mars bar for lunch

Seriously though, I think I may have cracked a system to universally price up domestic window cleaning, got the idea form the yanks of all people, give me 20 mins to find some suitable pics and I think this could really help out all those 'what would you charge?' questions and new boys starting out. BRB
