Gutter camera

WCF

Help Support WCF:

I tried a cheaper one for £80 bit like a Gopro. Had to return it, unreliable, g sensor failed, poor latency wifi mode, small indecipherable image

I use the gopro mostly for surveys as I normally have to get ladders off the van to sort out corners, downspouts etc. On jobs/part jobs I don't want and/or can't use ladders then the gopro comes into its own.

That little robust camera with the extra added on lcd touch screen bacpac has paid for itself many times over. It's a fantastic sales tool as using it for surveys I’ve still to date won every job I’ve quoted on.

If you want something that records nearly as well as a gopro but for a fraction of the price look at the Mobius, we use them on rc planes as an alternative as they are much, much smaller, light and with quality nearly as good, yet only cost £50 ish.

Looks ok but it don't have wifi, it’s not waterproof nor can you swap batteries over.

Smacking it about on gutters & tiles like I do with the gopro and working in the rain I don't think it would last very long.

After saying that might make a good cheap dash cam though.

Has anyone used one of these Aquafed camera/monitors?

It doesn't say anything about them being waterproof and the camera life is only just over an hour?

I have also looked at SkyCams which come out at nearly £600, Screens not as big, Dont need the night vision, But has 3 hours operating time.

The Wifi on my Iphone is greyed out so I am unable to use the Gopro Idea.

Most wifi cameras being sold now at a silly high cost for so say gutter cleaning are just wifi baby recorder/monitors.

The batteries last several hours, no wifi but live video out and it can record, fairly sure you can get waterproof cases for them.

Don't forget it is £50.

For me the fundimental reason in using a camera is to see what the guttering is like there and then. Be it by playing back vids/looking at photos when doing a survey or in real time whilst clearing gutters.

That mobius device has to be attached to a Windows based PC’s and Mac computer to extract what has been recorded so would be a pain in the **** for me whilst working onsite.

It would output live video or recorded video to any screen of any kind as long as it has video input, could probably get it on your phone.

I've used hard wire systems before with bullet cams of a much higher spec as that before but found the cable to be a real pain in the ****.

They seem a pretty reputable company SmurfIts £250 on there website:

Not knocking you though as you've obviously done a bit of homework on them before deciding to go with the go pro.

What would you recommend apart from the Go pro?
I've also tried other types of so say wireless guttercams which were usless to put it bluntly as were cheap & nasty china **** that did not last me very long.

The gopro with an lcd touch screen fitted is not perfect by any means but does what I want it to do and more importantly wins me loads of work.

That's about what I paid for a hero 3+ silver by the time I bought all the other bits for it.

I'm sure you could pick up a good used hero 3+ silver with a bacpack very cheap from the likes of gumtree or fleebay if you bide your time.

I've a job that needs doing ASAP, And would rather pay a bit extra for not only a new item but also one that will last.

What other bits would be needed to get this up and running?

Some kind of fixing bracket?

Some kind of rubber protector?

I could use my daughters Iphone for real time Viewing.

If you go back and read this thread you will see all the bits I had bought for it.
I usually just go up and down the ladder as I go along, But this house is very modern glass fronted with wide box guttering like something off grand designs so don't want to take risks. And I believe it would be a good investment

I got a gopro for a simular reason as was quite a high job I had booked in for going up and down ladders. Lucky for it turned out quite a simple gutter clearing job using a guttervac that made a nice change. I also earnt enough on that one job to pay for the gopro kit and some more /emoticons/smile.png
