So today we are doing a regular job when the next door neighbor approaches us and asks us to do her windows.

She was of a certain ethnicity who always ask 'is that the best price?'

The conversation went a little like this.

Custie: Can you come and do my windows?

Me: Give me a min luv and i'll come and give you a quotation.

Custie: OK

Me: Right, i'tll be £12 per month for all the windows, frames, sill and doors.

Custie: Can you do every other month?

Me: Yes, but we do charge an extra £2 for bi-monthly, so it would be £14 per visit.

Custie: OK, well do them this time (this is where the alarm bells start to warm up) and I will talk to my husband and let you know how often we want them done.

Me: No luv, those prices are for monthly or bi-monthly cleans, if you want a one off service it will be £25.

Custie: £25?

Me: Yes, it takes a lot longer the first time and it is our time I charge for.

Custie: Ahhh ok well let me talk to my husband and then I will call you.

Me: Of course luv, no problem

ME IN MY HEAD: Yeah I will wait by the phone for that call!!

Do they really think it's the first time we've heard this shi*e?

yep me did one a while back..oh its smaller than the house your on...oh well eight pounds then..I hadnt seen it...

so I did a runner when I saw the conny on the back..

a few days later as luck would have it a neighbour emailed for a quote so I went again to price the one I had run away from but I went to the new job first same sort of house so put in £15 and got it so I thought sod that and put £15 through the other..

never heard back....but when I do...I will be looking forward to telling her how I now charge double for first cleans../emoticons/biggrin.png

Well handled and good pricing system, it actually annoys me to even go through all that chat knowing full well ots not going anywhere unless u charge low rate and do great job.

If i get the feeling its going to be the above conversation, i just say, im too busy and not taking on any new customers and pop ear phone back in and carry on. (Well thats what i want to do anyway)

That why I always charge more for a one-off/fisrt clean as weeds out the time wasters

youre lucky she didnt go with the bi-monthly but then cancel later the same day with a petty complaint. i used to be very easy going with any foreigner but now those injuns well i hate their guts . that reminds me i got a permanent ban on cleanitup forum for being racist, but its a fact that injuns treat english cleaners like dirt. whoever is the main mod on cleanitup is a *** , i can understand why he wants the rank and file to believe that injuns are good customers ,but its false, they cant be nice

I have one to quote on Thursday. I call him after he leaves an email, "How much for 4 bedroom detached?" I don't quote over the phone. Give me your address and I'll quote it properly. A quick google maps search shows it has a conny stretching the whole width of the rear. Hmm, so it isn't a 4 bed detached is it Mr barterer, it's a 4 bed with big conny. Ya weasel! Oh, and for some strange reason he wants it doing monthly, which isn't the norm with barterers

A nice first clean price to start with and a bit of fun to be had by me on Thursday /emoticons/biggrin.png

I like it when they say it's a standard size house and when you get there it's a ******* mansion with leaded windows /emoticons/biggrin.png

Don't know if you read the bit I did on standardizing pricing but it's been working an effing treat and all my quotes are up by about 30% and I'm getting 95% of those. The way I look at it is it should be a price per pane / window as standard. After all one window takes as long as another so why should the cost to custie not be the same?

If you want the big house on the hill well you will pay the same per window as granny in the terraces but f**k me you got 30 more windows than granny so happy days, 'I assume that will be cash sir?'

But then you get the nice people happy to pay for a good job

Just have to separate the wheat from the chaff

If you went into Tescos, picked up a loaf of bread and took it to the till and asked, "have you got any cheaper than this?", how would you feel if they chucked you out for taking the ****.

I have few good ones as well. one in particular-they pay well, shame that all of them cannot be like that
i find it hard to believe that any injun will pay well. get a foto of him/her next time you go,so can look closely at this rare beast

We can't have racist talk like this on here, it's not becoming.

You find good and bad people whether they are british or not

Recently I had a British nurse doing a runner without paying her window cleaning bill ,,, if I had taken a picture of her house ( it was one where you wipe your feet on the way out)

All I can say is "no wonder there are hospital bugs ,can't even clean her house , dirty cow "
