So I mentioned I fly FPV (first person view) rc planes etc ages ago and people mentioned it was a cool hobby, so thought I would post a video of a quick flight I had the other evening, ignore my friends dress, he runs a metalshop business and we both just legged it from work to get some quick flying in.

This footage is poor quality, it is the exact footage I see through my goggles on the ground, it is also the whole flight so the first half of the video is worth skipping as it is just climbing to altitude so all you get to see is sky pretty much lol.

Skip to about 8 or 9 mins, also worth noting this is a quick and dirty set up so the audio and video are quite poor, I am doing this with a directional antenna on my goggles and having to use my head to point it at the plane 2km away and a km high, so it isn't very accurate as you can imagine, I am high enough to be in the clouds but unfortunately there wasn't any on this evening.

wow enjoyed that it goes up quite high enjoyed the landing.

not so much into hobbies myself these days unless you count watching tv.

but a lot on here do marine fish keeping which I have done...and also a lot like fishing and gardening all things I do like...

I await your next video...its very realistic.../emoticons/biggrin.png

Nice, I am also a carp fisherman, have been since I was about 6 lol, best is a 38lb ghost.

Also used to keep fish, had a 180 gallon tank with Oscar, catfish, tinfoil barbs etc.

I'll try and get some better footage next time, I usually stick a recording camera on, but this is a fairly new plane with pan and tilt and coming up with a clever way of mounting another camera at the moment.

The weather has been bloody awful as well, so not much flying lately.

Excellent hobby Diwrnach

Looks good fun

I once built a petrol plane for a friend and we made the engine from scratch as he is a cnc programmer..was a good feelimg to finally fly it

I fly fish for pike and carp and have my allotment

Normal fishing bores me but am happy with my 6ft stalking lure rod or my saltwater fly rod taking carp off the surface with bread or floating dog biscuits

Had a 22lb2oz pike on the fly..hard work..my dream is to go fly fishing for bonefish in cuba

Yeah it is a good feeling finally getting her to fly.

That plane has pretty much everything on it, autopilot with return to home, auto level, gps lock, waypoints etc, along with uhf for long range.

Quite complicated really, I do have other planes one of which is just a camera and video transmitter for the chuck it and fly times.

Have a antenna tracker coming in the next couple of weeks, that can use a very narrow beam long range video antenna and it keeps it pointed at the plane the whole flight, should be awesome.

Also love my fishing, only fly fished a couple of times, but do like stalking carp off the top and lure fishing for pike.

Flown out to 7km so far, with new tracker and a plane I am planning should be able to fly 20km or more, with a potential 2 hour flight time.

I have a fox stalking rod and 100s of artificial lures

Love the rubber ones

Nothing better than pike or carp on the fly

Traditionalists would hate me as i have a heavy duty saltwater rod with huge pike flys tied on 1/0 hooks and other big sea hook sizes

And a little brook rod which i am happy to put real maggots on the hook and trot it downriver with floating line instead of trotting with floats and proper rod

See i never do anything properly lol

As long as you enjoy it who cares what others think?

Its one of the reasons I don't carp fish much these days, so many of the anglers now think they are on a fashion parade, they come and inspect your gear and you can see the mocking look in their eyes because you don't have the latest and greatest bite alarm, because you know having the best gear makes you the best fisherman.....

But the old boy with the ancient battered gear but 45 years experience will be a better fisherman

I do it my way as i enjoy it and i don't care what other think as i always have fun and catch fish

I think you have noticed by now i don't actually care what others think which is a good way to be..none of this worrying like my wife does about what others think or say

I also fish to but sea, don't go that often, mainly in winter when it's freezing cold an pitch black for what reason I don't know! Also play a bit of golf and that's quite fun, smashing a ball down the fairway is very addictive! And my other hobby is restoring and riding vintage scooters, love building engines and tinkering. All good fun. This is one I build from a pile of junk parts

My hobby is motorbikes, riding, going to race meetings, watching MotoGP, playing on the PS3, FIFA and COD (not got a PS4 as my son has one and I can't afford 2!)

Love my bikes as well, never really been into racing much, except for doing it myself, did a bit when I was younger.

Bought my first cruiser last year because my knee is completely shagged and can't ride a sportsbike without searing pain for more than about 5mins, and actually really enjoying it, the handling is really good, far better than I ever imagined and I can cruise at 80-90, ahem, 60 officer all day.

Sold a RSV mille last year, that was my last sports bike, but had everything from the original GSXR 1985 750 to hayabusa, and everything in-between.

My mate has a Fireblade and the handling between mine and his is very noticeable. His rides its way round corners by itself as Hondas have a top notch steering damper. I fitted some Harris rear sets on mine just before Xmas, I've got them positioned in the highest and furthest back position, good fun as they make you lie on the tank. I think you'd really struggle to get your feet on the pegs Diw

Yeah I had a blade, best handling bike I had for the road was without a doubt a ZX7R, the front end was absolutely amazing, I got my elbow down with the wife on the back with her knee down on that thing.

Think my sports bike days are over though, my knee is completely buggered. Believe it or not it was a fishing related injury lol, I was putting a 21lb carp back and ended up slipping down this steap bank and my leg went under me, the following morning I couldn't bend my leg, it took me about 20mins of literaly screaming out in pain to get into my car only to have to get back out again to lock the gates of the private lake I was on, then another 20mins to get back in. Had to drive home without stopping in 3rd gear all the way I couldn't use the clutch it was that bad.

Ignored it and put up with it, 5 years later its giving me major problems and turns out I had shattered the knee cap and torn one of the connecting pads off under the knee cap which is now on the front of the knee cap, you can see it.

Now it is giving me pain pretty much all the time, need to have an op on it but the recovery time is MASSIVE we are talking 8 months, with 2-3 of them with my leg dead straight. How the **** do I work???
