insurance write off?

Not sure on cars/vans, but had a few motorbikes over the years, usually fairing been ripped off and not worth repairing as more money than the bikes worth.

As said above, just get someone who knows what they are looking at to check it over.

The problem is you are buying from a picture online

Find your local auctions and get up there to see what is going through there and take some dosh with you

Cat d usually just light panel

Cat c usual involves suspension air bags etc

At that price I'm surprised breakers don't buy um would be impossible to lose on

As mentioned on the forum before i had kids I used to buy and sell cars vans etc and in my honest opinion there is nothing wrong with cat d

Sometimes it's just the repair is worth nearly the value but bear in mind the reason is its a approved bodyshop always brand new genuine parts and extortion labour!insurance company then arranges pickup and delivery as well as courtesy car so what to the normal person who could source parts second hand and get much cheaper labour sometimes you can repair for hundreds instead of thousands

My mate smashed his orion up years ago

Insurance would have written it off as fan cowling was touching the block and front panel was mullered

£22.50 pattern part front panel

chain car round post for hydraulic ramps and keep bumping it backwards until front reasonably straight then air saw old panel out

New rad , fan and headlight from scrap yard

Bit of hammering and spot welding quick lick of paint and job done for under a ton

Insurance quotes are a licence to print money in a bodyshop

My mum got rear ended Ooo err missus and the car was cat C I'm a painter by trade so did the work myself. It then had to go to a vosa test station for basically a more comprehensive MOT. Then a normal mot and it was fine.

Personally the vans are only £700 from what iv seen on ebay with a brief look

I know two guys that trad out if estate cars and one lad that wfp's out of his estate. A van isn't the be all and end all mate.

If it was my money I'd save for the van I wanted and just get by with what I had available to me at the time

I still work out of my family car.

Though to be fair it is a L200 warrior pick up /emoticons/tongue.png

V5 Notes:None ????
Just wondering how can they sell a van without a V5 as surely that is illegal?
Two things, just because your names on the V5 it doesn't make you the legal owner of the vehicle only legally responsible for it

Secondly you can sell the vehicle with a full reciept and leave the new buyer to pay £25 for a V5 using a V60 I think it's called

Ye its not like i am just getting a van for the sake of it my car is about to die on me so much wrong with it so i thought get a van over a car as insurance is cheaper as well /emoticons/smile.png cheers for the feedback tho mate
