So i went to a job at new custy

When i quoted she said how much for windows and how much to clean the upvc bit at the front

Mostly brick with 1 upvc bit in the middle top to bottom only about 1.5 metres wide

Told her 10 for the windows and 20 for the upvc as half hour job

Did it and she comes out to pay

Gives me a 20

Where's the 10

What 10 you said 20 for today and 10 for the windows in future

Did i ****

The neighbour had come out and asked me to do her windows and had said they haven't seen one round there for ages so i took it on the chin rather than create in front of the neighbours

Do i bin her but then still have to do her neighbours or do i take it as lesson learnt??

I did try that but she was adamant she wouldn't have agreed to that price

I am a grown up and can live with it rather than have a row on someone's doorstep

You know with these people they act all innocent but you can tell they know what they are doing

That is probably why they have not seen a window cleaner for a while I'm thinking...Now she thinks your going to do her windows and the plastic bit for 10 squid each time you call /emoticons/biggrin.png

good chance she will cancel before the next clean . they know exactly what theyre doing.

lucky strike getting the neighbours.

If she cancels i will throw mud up her pvc when she's asleep

Next time if she wants it doing it will be 25 for the pvc and a tenner for the windows

keep us posted .... plus get a foto of her to alert forum members what type to watch out for. theyre usually getting in or out of a car with bags of shopping when you are nearby, its uncanny but true

You can still be polite whilst standing your ground mate, but I'm sure you did whats right as you are the one that was there. Maybe do hers and her neighbours and wait until you get a few more in the area before sacking her off. Cut any corners you can too- if she wants a cheap service, she can have it.

Had a barterer try and knock me down after the first time I cleaned by a fiver. I stuck to my guns and got what we had originally agreed but she wanted silly little cobwebs etc clearing from ridiculous places so that she felt she was getting her monies worth. They have a big **** off conny going up at the minute. I wonder how much they think they will get away with paying me to clean it? I feel I won't be cleaning that house much longer

It is on a main road but it one of those roads with set back groups of houses along the road so when i do one i get another 8- 10 houses that can see me working

Last few weeks i have been doing that road and seem to get a new one most times i do someone elses in one of those clusters

Will bide my time but no point being bitter

As now will just be a normal clean

I will make out of her somehow

The great thing in this game you can pick & choose what jobs you take on and/or continue doing.

I haven't done many, but I've got the habit of repeating back what I'm going to as an itemised list. Maybe you could write it down as a written quote if its a few items on the list stop these types in their tracks, unless they get the tipex out

This sort will always find away, even if they have to complain at the end of a job, or like tuffers one they'll add little jobs in to give them the value for money they crave.

I have an invoice maker on my phone

I can make a blank 1 and print a few off and fill in the services and blanks

Good point tolish. I've only had good ones so far so my ideas are only theory :)

Maybes applying a bit of smurf are sole tax to the quotes is a good one

I had a cracker just recently, quoted a house, large property, quoted for all Windows, also the person wants internal Windows done on extension n roof access Windows done a skylight thing.

Got email yesterday the person wants only roof access n internal Windows cleaned, im suspicious:hey:, has he got someone else to do outside accessible windows or maybe doing them himself, as he was a windy cleaner years ago.

I might just have to ask him what the game is[delusional] such fun this job at times.

indian proper are typified by this thread . bangladeshi on the other hand dont try to con you on the price

, they just openly pick holes in the job [reach out window and tap frames while shouting "frames, frames "} and pay up with a scowl . no tips, ever

I had one like that boar

After a few minutes of them constantly tapping on the windows from inside to point out marks that i hadn't even got round to wiping or scraping off yet i packed up my ladders and left them to it

Don't take me for a fool

I guess they didn't move to the uk for the weather, it was to make themselves rich and keep it that way

(To generalise)

I thought none lived in the village I work in so I was surprised to pick one up last time I was out. She asked me how much I charge and presuming it was the same as the two neighbours I was already doing I told her £15. When I got round to do it there was an extension on the back so thought I would have murder trying to get any more. To my surprise when I said hers will be a bit more she asked will £20 be ok? Coughed up no problems, I don't know for sure but I suspect they might be Sri Lanken.
