Sod it, You're all fired!

Its the best, easiest and cheapest way really, the oil removes sort of work, but you can still see where the stain was, depends how long its been there as well.

its not always about more money you pay the better the worker . look how many lazy beggars are in government jobs on silly money. its about finding workers who enjoy job satisfaction with fair money.

i can remember when i was 17 and on a govt scheme, shovelling concrete on a beach breakwater scheme. the banter with the lads, feeling knackered at days end, the ride home in the van with the singsongs was something i really loved and remember fondly-even tho i was gettin paid a pittance

As an apprentice electrician I used to have to travel all over the country and get on site where ever it was by 8:00 work a full day and get home for 7:00 after getting up at 6:00 for £55 a week first year and a whopping £85 second year lol

i remember getting up at 3.30 in the morning and walking an hour bare foot to work 4 and a half miles away to work a 12 hr shift

oh wait that was a film

sorry

Minimum Wage = £6.31 ph
Living wage (Nottingham) £7.45 ph

I was paying £10.00 ph. On the books, taking care of their taxes & NI making sure they're insured paid holiday every year in accordance with the law and so on.

How much do you think a domestic window cleaner (as an employee) should be paid? Before answering if you bother, remember how pathetically little your customers want to pay YOU for the job to start with..
if you have young lad 16 you dont even have to pay him minimum wage

Been there, done that, problem? 16 year old cant legally drive the vans.

If I had a 16 year old that worked as well and as hard as any grown man I would pay him the same wage as I would the grown man, we all know 'legal' wage minimums in this country are a joke, if I cant live on that why should you?

It's not about the money Duncs it's about their work ethics, perhaps my standards are too high for the common man.

god sake duncs . green was paying them very welll indeed them lads taking the mick jus

green feel so bad for ya seein u have that new setup on go an all

if you want them to stay and be loyal you have to play the game and pay gd rate
You on the sauce tonight Duncs? I think you'd have to work hard to find a Windie paying employees £10 ph or better.

No need to feel bad Peter but sympathies always appreciated /emoticons/smile.png The new set up is running sweet and simply makes my life easier so no bother there anyhow. End of tax season so always helpful to blow a few grand on new toys! /emoticons/smile.png)

i say get two more have them out with u all time and u pole windows and they trad that way u keep an eye on them if not look at ur round list the annoyers and bad payers and offload them buy selling

Round here, a tenner an hour is certainly enough to expect loyalty and respect. A tenner an hour can be hard to find if you're looking for work too. Their loss!

Good luck amigo. Don't do yourself in trying to do all the work innit.

Nah Peter, the staffing days are done for me, seriously. It will be a long long time before I take on anyone else if ever.

It simply puts me in a position where my books are closed, if a new custie want's in now I can either tell them to wait till there's one drop off or see if there's any dead weight that can be cut so I can add on the new custie instead.

Here's the kicker, havn't taken a break in over 12 months because been too busy making sure the new boys know exactly what they're doing. By getting rid of them I have calculated I will save so much on paying employee liability, second van expenses, uniforms and so on that I have already started looking to book a week in Santorini seeing old friends and a week fly fishing in Scotland this year for a start.

Might not sound awfully exotic but I am already fortunate enough to have been very well traveled so and anything more than a week and I get a bit bored! /emoticons/smile.png So these will do for starters.

keep us posted on the new recruits

if was you id ring your 2 lads up [that you fired] , invent a **** n bull story about how you had a brainstorm burnout, perhaps your pet dog/rabbit/mongoose, yes really,iv had him ages -he got loose and you were distraught couldnt think straight - and how youre really very sorry , please will u come back . sometimes you have to eat humble pie, eat a bit o **** , but worth it for the good of the business

I think you're missing the points here just a little.

1: Don't need them, can manage current workload on a 5 day week, 4 week month. 8am - 3pmish at my pace but I dont mind working so not bothered.

2: If little p&^cks are skipping windows and cutting corners how is that for the good of the business ? They are screwing with my reputation.

3: I became a self employed window cleaner for the lifestyle more than the money so at the end of the day there really is no amount of money that can make it worth while having to put up with ungrateful little pric&s that I am bending over backwards trying to find more work for.

Lastly, you seem to think I am in the wrong here Boars? Please do explain how so, I am a most charitable man but will only put up with so much shite.

im thinking long term. take a long hard look, youre 42 not 22 , you wont be able to keep up the slog for long mate .

oh i know they missed windows and they moaned [that an english trait, everyone here moans, ignore] but theyre already Trained. Useful. All you need to do is get em back on track, praps swap it about the partime lad out with the other lad - praps the lone wolf will do better with a helper/mate , instead of him feeling hes on his lonesome.

leaving you to get a helper of your own ? or maybe ur happy to slog on Your own, bet you arent

Yeah but the job description is 'Window Cleaner' not buddy, pal, hand holder, banterer and so on.

If you can't work alone then I don't need you, simple really.

I need to have faith that I send you off with a list of chores to be done, they get done.

Why is that too much to ask in modern society? Cause 'oh little johnny gets sad if he doesn't have a friend to play with' well tough shite mate, i'm a window cleaning business not a day care facility.

Not to mention being sent out to clean windows and NOT CLEANING THE WINDOWS is gross misconduct anyhow and grounds for instant dismissal.

Tell me i'm wrong Boars but we will just go in circles on opinions here.

the partime helper needs to feel hes got summat nice coming more than parttime sh/t. he can be doling out flyers to A- rake in more work B -so hes knows hes gonna be fulltime shortly .
