Where to start I want to make my own 400liter wfp system in my fiat doblo van don't have much money so going to buy bit at a time so what make and what to start on

Many thanks for the thr help

Ok well start with a tank,

Then hose, pump, battery and a controller, just add bits as you get the funds,

Here's a pic of mine, I bought all second hand bits and diy'd it:

It's fairly simple really mate, once you've got the parts it's quite simple to put together, the basics are in the close up picture of my hose battery etc,

You can add a one shot remote (starts and stops water at touch of a button) at a later date, or any other such things...

Shurflo 100psi pump is the standard,

Pure freedom hose reel and hose - just plain and simple, does the job well,

A leisure battery, halfords or anything like that..

A baffled tank (eBay)

Pure freedom controller, or similar (this is to turn on and off water, and also change the speed/flow of water from pump)

That's pretty much the basics...

You'll need a reverse osmosis system to make your pure water, again, pure freedom sell them

Nice work Jake. . Can I ask what you've used to coat your floor and sides of your van? I've been looking to fibreglass my floor, but it's gonna be too costly, so I'm gonna treat it with a waterproof coating instead. Just wondered what you used mate?

Hi guys thanks for the comments,

I use floor paint from screwfix its water proof and nice and thick!

Can't give away too many secrets.../emoticons/wink.png

What I've learnt is to just look at the van and visualise things and then Google all the ideas...

I like to keep it tidy and simple as I hate all the mess and rubbish that most setups look like, as the doors are always open, I like to make it look tidy to reflect and good service. I used to have messy old cars, but since having the van, decided to take some pride in it!

Nice one mate, thanks for that.

very nice setup, as you said no mess which not many of can say :laugh:

but my first thought was: what a pain it must be to reel that hose especially with your left hand (unless your left handed anyway), i mean it's quite far in because of that hose guide.

There's a story behind that:

I decided that because I'm right handed I'd use the left arm to reel in the hose, saves my right arm taking the brunt of everything!

What I do is sit on the van edge and then reel it in, it looks further in that it actually is, I've moved it twice in the past and found this is the best location as it gives me room for pressure washer etc..

It's good as my right arm no longer does everything! Saying that, with trad I use both left and right just as much, I find it easy to use left hand for squeeging, even though I'm right handed. Probably because of years and years of practice, now it doesn't matter what hand I use!

In fairness, it doesn't really make much difference, i just preferred it on the right of my van really!

Love the logo @Jake, I'm left handed and naturally wind the hose in with my right hand is that strange ?..and yes definitely learn to squeegee with both hands. That is a 'Top Trad Tip' /emoticons/wink.png Try saying that 5 times fast
