Pull up a sandbag, here's a quick story....

Bloke calls and asks for a window clean, with the possibility of going 'regular monthly' thereafter.

I give him a price over the phone for the first clean, as well as the monthly price after.

He moans about being charged extra for the first clean and tells me its way too much.

I tell him its my policy as I like to take my time on a first clean to get them right, and even mention that it stops people from just using me for a spring clean..... I shouldnt have said this but something about the way he was talking to me set alarm bells ringing so I ended up being a bit abrupt.

He accepts the price and I turn up for the first clean..... Large victorian house, double bay windows and loads of glass at the back, and it was absolutely boggin.

****** off that he haggled so hard even though it was clear there was a lot of work to do, I cracked on anyway and did a good job of it.

I sent a text afterwards asking if he wanted to be added to my round, and he sent one back saying...'Not decided yet, we'll probably leave it a few months and see from there'.

...8 months later and hes texting me for his next clean. What on earth do I say? So my friends I am leaving this in your capable hands. Winner of the best/funniest text idea will get a closeup picture of my left moob, but more importantly I will use it word for word as my reply to him.

My business is in your hands, lets see what you've all got./emoticons/biggrin.png

MY POLICY was taken off my management team on here and clearly now states double for first cleans....

unless the last clean was within six months..

so eight months...tough titties double or feck off.../emoticons/biggrin.png

I do have to put up with a few that slip through the net though....

one is every six months....hmmmm

and then of course I have had a few....

oh yes come monthly....

er can you come every other month as it seems to come around so quick..

and for them...well

I await them to say the immortal line...

oh can you come a bit more often as the windows are really dirty.....this is always after the storm of slime or sleet storm that doesnt wash off....

MAKE UR FECKIN MIND UP......

TBH guys, its the principle of it. He haggled really hard to try and get his first clean at bottom dollar, with no intention of going regular. It wasnt even the polite haggling, it was the rude "but you're just a window cleaner" type haggling. I still charged him double and thank god I did,or else he would have had me for a real mug. I don't want to work for an arsehole like that, double whack or not. So come on lads, give me something funny to say to him./emoticons/biggrin.png

or another thing I like to do...

is add a bit to the price...and when they protest say but all my prices went up two months ago, sorry didnt I tell you.../emoticons/biggrin.png

I have one I hate at the mo....her voice just kills me...yep shes so nice but really...its not gone up once....in donkeys..

but I use it for my wfp practise as her windows are horrible hydro phobic and I havent got my technique right yet..but she doesnt know this as shes always at her daughters around the corner...

although she said today..

when I came home last time all my cills were soaking wet with puddles of water on them....

ooopss rumbled..

er..oh I must have forgot to wipe them sorry I said...and did a runner....

dear mr -

thank you for your txt reference your 8 monthly window clean

i have a note that tells me i under charged the last clean signiffintly

i am sure can appreciate an a 8 monthly clean takes a lot of skill and time when normally monthly cleans are standard practice

i am sure you would agree triple normal clean price is a very generous price for dirt and filth that your windows and frames will have accumulated over this period

looking forward to hearing back from you

Tolish

Wow! I thought you had died. Yer having a laugh coming back to me after 8 months... my price will now be xxx /emoticons/biggrin.png

just tell him that you havent decided yet and that you might contact him in a few months ,and by the way dont hold your breath /emoticons/tongue.png

if you have plenty workthis is will be cool

call at his house be happy please4d to see him shake his hand have a site visit

walk round with the guy checking all windows when finished

look the guy in eye and say "sorry mate you have waited to long ( watch as his lip hits floor ) your window are minging

i have better customers to look after , coo coo

Tell him you clean more regularly than when a general election comes round  If you want the work tell him it's first clean rates every time he goes over a month and that you need to be working regular and not ad hoc. If he don't like it, then tough tittys, coo coo.....

Or how about “you have less chance of getting your windows cleaned by me now than my mate Nigel becoming prime minster” /emoticons/biggrin.png

agree a day and time to clean this :turd:s house at the cheaper monthly rate stated on your first visit then don't turn up and when he phones to ask where you are say "its like this I realized I do this job to feed my family and pay my bills and not as a hobby so what i am going to do is clean all my regulars, then when my round gets so big that 8 monthly becomes a regular clean i will get back to you.

@TolishAPurd you can always say its gonna cost 39393299494 pounds this time as you dont think he has any intention of ever being part of your round and are unwilling to work on his property for a penny less... payment upfront of course :)

Or how about "best you move to australia or the states as they are happy to clean windows once a year but not me" /emoticons/biggrin.png
