Who uses yell.com ?

I took an advert out last summer for window cleaning in my area at a price of £1080 Inc vat , was a bit of a gamble but within about 8 weeks I made it back so was just wondering if anyone else has had any success from yell.com ?

example

yell.com landed me a £150 gutter clean a neighbour saw me so landed that 1 for £200 gutters / small conny , did that today , another neighbour saw me doing that today landed them , another £200 job , another neighbour saw me next door landed a £120 gutter clean plus her mom's house plus her patio clean .

so has anyone else advertised with yell.com ?

Wouldn't pay for yell or Thompson I use the free ad space on both and get enough work through that rather than paying [emoji108]

not bad Neil .

I tried the free ads too had work from them but fancied taking top spot and getting even more work .

Depends what you want to spend your marketing budget on I guess.

Price wise yell.com seems a bit of a rip off to me but if it's working for you and you are happy spending that sort of money just for a 12 month advert then fare enough.

You will know after the 12 months is up how much extra work yell has actually generated for you in one-off's and recurring business. That is if you monitor where the leads are coming from properly. Then you can decide it's worth doing again or not next time.

On a side note I'm sure there is an x yell telesales chap on here that would throw some light on how they operate.

yell.com is excellent for me, I'm no.1 spot for gutter cleaning in my area, think it costs me £260 a year, this is my 2nd year and I get loads of calls. 1st year I took it out my 3rd call was a medical practice that got me £325

pleased to hear someone else is having a good return from yell.com

I'm inundated with work from yell .

this week alone I've done £450 in gutter cleans from yell .

Marc, your canvassing team, do they get basic + commission or commission only/through the payroll etc?

Commission only I pay the head 1 125% for all the work he get but the others work for me but he pays them 100% of what they get. So he earns extra 25% but he keeps he's eye on they becuse then earn him money. Then all I get at the end of the week is work from him and I pay him the pays the others

does he have any sort of contract with you, i.e. you **** him off & he takes work off of you?

The only reason i ask, is we are going to be looking into getting a "business development" manager set up, but he will be contracted so that he cannot approach any work for 2 years if he is to leave/told to be left to safeguard our company. (we aren't predominantly window cleaners by the way, its business to business)

does he bring you in decent work? 125% isn't too bad

No contract he would not try to take work it's all resdential. £500-800 a week but I can't afford it all so I sell half to a cleaner I know for 200% so I make 75% for passing it on but I guarantee the work I sell for 2 month so I proble earn 35% profit of what I sell.

im wary of yell.com after a bad experience years ago where a slick salesman had me sign up a lot of money, luckily i was able to cancel tho not easily and he hounded me and scared me i was a naive kid .

i also know a window cleaner who has 3 vans and a bunch of lads who last yr used yell for a website, the step up to more lucrative work was the idea -but the hidden costs of yells website almost dragged him under! and altho he broke free , they kept the domain name ,he now works without a website .

Yeah yell charge £60 for hosting the web site. I had me mine made by someone else who makes u pick your name on 123 reg cost £12.99 so it's yours 4 ever. So I just pay £102 a month for being top for window cleaning, gutters cleaning and con roofs
