You mean using non pure water??

Surely that's cheating lol

I advertise being eco friendly as my main mix was Ecover and vinegar. Its great stuff- plenty of slip, and cleans well. But I really like the fairy lime and lemongrass- by itself is good, but I add vinegar to the bucket if I have a first clean on that day.

Even between the Ecovers I have found the lemon one to be better then the pommengranite. It seems to clean better, and it has a stronger smell so its great for internals as it leave the house smelling fresh.

I've seen that some of you guys add vinegar to the solution. What does the vinegar contribute? ( Besides getting a smelly solution./emoticons/tongue.png )

Brilliant shine! captainzoom

Vinegar is an acid that has been used for cleaning since the dawn of time. In a bucket its like adding more cleaning power, but without the gunkiness you can get if you add too much soap. I like the fact that its natural, as its not good to expose your body to chemicals all day. People get skin problems in this job from the soap and I'm convinced this has a lot to do with it.

@TolishAPurd

Ahh. Makes sense. Worth a try. What kind of vinegar do you use? And what amount?

Also been trying to find Ecover over here with no luck. So I'll see if I can get my hands on some Fairy. Currently I'm testing W5 from Lidl. (After watching a video from Polzn Blades) Works OK and is cheap. But still leave residue. Especially if you follow Bobs advise and lay it on thick. Good glide but disaster if you miss a spot. (Or maybe I'm doing it wrong..) So if vinegar can increase the cleaning power and reduce gunk... :thumbsup:

I am trad but i spray ubik on glass and frames on a first clean

Makes a big difference

@Mendys

Thanks for the tip. Do you buy from them on a regular basis? Price is ok until you get to the shipping fee... 48£ with shipping? But I guess it's worth it if it's a quality product. /emoticons/smile.png

@daveyboy1

Always on the lookout for things that makes first cleans easier/faster. I have to research if it's possible to get ubik here in Sweden. This forum is a GOLDMINE. =)

Ubik 2000 or virosol

Both made by clover

Google it and you may find it

Or cleaning spot in the uk..5l for £7

But postage may be a killer to you..not sure

When I first looked into using ubik yonks ago I contacted the manufactures directly and when I asked if it was safe to use on glass they said no. Apparently just to cover their own **** but I've had no issues yet as I don't let it dry out on the glass. However I found out if you use it at as a strong mix can turn white plastic yellow and is near impossible to bring back to white afterwards so use it with caution.

And thanks for the advice @Smurf. Wouldn't want to end up having to explain to the custy why their white frames suddenly are yellowish...

Guess I have a lot of experimenting to do.Currently I don't use anything stronger than dish soap. And for first cleans, it takes me forever to get rid of stubborn gunk and fly's**t that seems to have bonded with the glass. Got a porky though. Helps a bit. /emoticons/smile.png

Yes I do like every year order from them. I do order from "skvissen" some times but when you make a big order, even with shipping fee, it's cheaper from Denmark. When I do first cleans I use ammonia in my solution, but not to much cause it can make a mess.
