Can window cleaning really be lucrative with hard work?

To answer the question about earning potential, the sky's the limit, a good friend of mine works very very hard but pulls in around 50-60k a year, he's now got 800 customers a month!

The sky is the limit Legend

I'm aiming for 40k I'm more than half way there, it nearly broke me to be honest and its just on these second and third cleans I'm seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

I think commitment is key you have just got to keep plugging away if I've got spare time I'm canvassing.

do a rota up and stick to it

really does help

like window clean 8-2 canvas 3-8 but allow time in ur week to relax or u ill get sick of it

after all sparkle wasnt built in a day /emoticons/tongue.png took just under 5 years to built up to my 1 man limit

Lol,What kind of earning potential is there with a good round and do you get quite in the winter?
Do most of you guys insist on year-round cleans? Come across reluctant custies who only want them cleaned in the summer months?

Assume it's like most outdoor trades, who generally do better in the summer months and it makes up for a little less work in the winter?

theres no let up whatsoever ! anyone who just wants a summertime only clean is totally ignored by me ,

theres more than enough all- year- rounders gagging to get their windows cleaned .

I'm not sure there 'gagging' to get there windows cleaned,

but yeah it's a year round job, nothing changes for me in the winter other than getting less conservatory roof cleaning jobs etc...

How many customers do you do a day guys?after first cleans are done

As many as you want, and it depends on prices, but it's not unreasonable to do 15-25 houses a day dependant on prices and size of houses...

I tend to do an average of 15, most of my work is well priced now, so 15 houses and less is enough.

As few as possible for the most amount of money......that is the goal at least & that is really what it's about for me not only £ wise but also time, energy & enjoyment.

I very very rarely go into double figures. Average this week been about 4-6 per day........much less than when I first started out /emoticons/smile.png My ideal goal: about 2-3 per day........this time next year Rodney!

I think it's great to have more than one source of income. A part-time job, plus window cleaning sounds interesting to me! Nothing like having that sense of freedom that being your own boss brings thou!

Good luck!

If you work hard it will happen eventually
If you work smart it will happen quicker
Very true,

It's a tough game though, because there isn't much you can do to speed the process up of building a round (there are a few of course)but in essence hard work pays off,

Smart working comes later, and boy is it worth it!

may be I am right or not

window cleaning business is a very attractive proposition to first time entrepreneurs, the start up costs are low and it’s a service which is seemingly always in demand. Market research is a good place to begin. Identify areas where you think there will be a high demand for window cleaners and find out if there are window-cleaning companies already operating in those areas or not.

I think if you want to do it, market research is irrelevant. You can look at any service industry, from cleaning to a trade and decide theres too much competition. Just do it regardless of the odds imo.

It wouldn't matter for me if i researched it and found 20 windies working one area

I guarantee if you canvassed it well you would get some work

I know a terrace of 6 houses with 3 of us local windies working it

I think you can do well from window cleaning. I have been doing this for 2 months proper now after getting advise and stopping after a week and setting up properly and then going at it with a plan and long term plan. I have now 17O odd customer now and in a few months really, its FB, Door knocking and flyering. The money is ok now and earning enough to do ok, but I want to get 300 customers, that will do me, I dont need anymore than that maybe not that many.

I have taken it slowley, got what I need to do the job and will upgrade as I need to and move the business along in the right manner. I persoanlly dont feel I need a flashy van to carry my water and add to costings of it all when a car can do the same thing in my circumstances, I buy in pure water cheaply and th whole set up and delivery of window cleanign is simple and cost effective totally. I can make 500-600 a week and that suits me fine, ok I read on here people earn 40-60k window cleaning, thats great, I dont think I could make that I am a little slow only do 12 a day and have middle row pricing, but it works for me and 2000-2500 a month is fine for me. I need to look at the way I work as it seems many on here dwarf what i earn doing window cleaning, need to work out how lol, maybe need to speed up and get 20 houses a day on my own, just dont think i can do that tbh lol. Anyway, its a good earner Monday -friday 9-4 or 5 oclock so good hours and 500-600 a week expected soon and as you can see many guys on here double that. /emoticons/smile.png

starting at 8 and finishing at 6 would make a big difference mate, when you first start out you need to eat sh_t and sleep window cleaning, it needs to be your life, longer hours will make you better and fitter and plus more money, working hard is what makes you a pro

Meant to say and be religous about sleeping properly like 8 hours every night and eating the right food, one without the other is no good. Do all that and you will be minted. That's just my phylosophy. Then the next step is to employ someone once you have built up the work
