Picking up a vibe on the forum that a few of you prefer the SLX over the Xtreme (both Gardiner poles if anyone isn't sure)

there's quite a big price difference but just wondering if there are any other reasons?

......... but I could be wrong with this assumption- personally I have an Xtreme & love it!

never tryed a extreme but i will do i use aquadapter an am consurned that it will runin the poles balance an not b wrth paying the extra !! im a bit heavy handed also but still gunsa give one a bash at some point

The Extreme, while being a lighter, more rigid pole and excellent pole.....

I have heard they are not as robust as an SLX for everyday use.

The extreme is lighter and more rigid, so it's a better pole.

But you may have to spend about £150 a year on it to maintain and replace sections. For me it's a no brainer.

Less than £15 a month to use the best pole out there.

Like I said........not as robust as a SLX /emoticons/wink.png/emoticons/tongue.png/emoticons/biggrin.png.

As I've always said, I can't justify an Xtreme at low height...

In still waiting for Jonny to send me one to trial...

I've got better things to spend me money on (wife looking over my shoulder)

Jonny I still can't get over the fact you got an Xtreme at 18' !

Edit - even more so now I here your only charging 8-12 for 4 bed house!

Cost of living must be low?

If we were all bothered about robustness then we would have brodex poles. Lol
Lightness and rigidity is more important to me.
He was asking (apart form price) why some prefer SLX to an Extreme...not the other way around....

Hence my reply the SLX is the more robust for everyday use.

I'm also getting an extreme 25 in a month or so to replace my slx 25. /emoticons/smile.png

I'm guessing your based in the south?

I have to work smarter and faster up north to make good money. The extreme poles (along with other things) help me do this to be honest.

An average 4 bedroom house up here has about 12 ish windows. And up here guys who have big businesses bash them out for £8 a pop, doing about 4 an hour.

Then you have the guys who do them for £4 or £5 to top up there dole money.

If you charged more than £12 for a 4 bed house here you'd go out of business very quick.

I have both... Xtreme is my everyday pole & the SLX is my backup for add on work that's harder on the pole or if a section breaks. The SLX hardly gets used!

Xtremes all the way for me now! /emoticons/biggrin.png

Yeah I'm South, £20 for a 4 bed here, does the Xtreme Earn you more money though... Doubt it...

That's the route I'm thinking about going as well. It's admittedly an expensive route but it makes such a difference having some fantastic poles to do the job with. My first poles when I started weighed a tonne and the difference on my shoulders and various other aches and pains is huge.

I put the Xtreme on the credit card /emoticons/smile.png but it has been well worth it and I have picked up a big hotel recently which I am now able to reach!

Cheers chaps - all comments have been helpful - happy cleaning ::):

Admittedly they aren't quite as robust as the SLX but I don't mind the trade off for the ease of working with them.

I just accept that the Xtremes require a bit more care in use, more regular cleaning out & maybe a replacement section once a year... less strain on my body is worth it as far as I'm concerned!

Can't surely justify the cost 5 or 6 hundred pounds and then you're expecting to replace sections in 12months
This is exactly my train of thought as well,

I just don't believe it's worth it at all, the difference in price is huge, and surly anything under 30ft is fine with an Slx, and when it comes to the 18-25ft range it surely isn't worth it at all! I mean it's not as if the slx poles are heavy, I mean come on!

Over 35ft then maybe it's worth it, but for lower residential pole work it seems ridiculous. And there is no way what so ever it will earn you more money, it will only cost you more money...

It's just that window cleaners like there toys that's all... No other reason, they just won't admit it!

My 18ft Phoenix x is 980g, so to buy an Xtreme for slightly more rigid-ness is just madness...

The Xtreme is expensive.....very expensive......but in my case I am now cleaning 6-7 storey buildings and I am making quite good dosh from them. But more importantly it is much easier on the body. I can't talk for the SLX as I have only held it in the shop as suppose to actually using it. Personally I do think it's important to have tried / used/ visited etc etc etc something before giving it a review......

@Alex Gardiner what do you think
difference in slx and extreme
Alex will obviously only plug his poles (wow that sounds weird)

But he's got a business to succeed in, so he's gonna sell sell sell and market all his stuff well,

And he does a very very good job, the best by far from any other supplier.

Customer service is amazing at Gardiner, and his innovation is well received,

But the Xtreme is way too expensive for what it does in my opinion.

At that kind of height I would say an Xtreme is fully justified,

Just not below 35ft
