Unger hydro DI Vessel

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Again what is the point of using loose resin in it

It's just another expensive gimmick from unger if you ask me. Using twin di’s is going to be more cost effective resin wise than using one of those surely?

The Unger Vessel works on the same principal as this Spectrum (High Yield) Vessels..... http://www.fileder.co.uk/hs-fs/hub/286288/file-1541359823-pdf/Catalogue/FFS_%2853%29_High_Yield_Pressure_Vessel_PV-PK.pdf

On the Unger Vessel, the water enters the vessel at the bottom, through a diffuser so that the water travels up and evenly through the entire resin, thus less likely to cause channels...which they say equates up-to 30% more efficiency .

On the Spectrum Vessel, the water enters the top through the head and travels down the tube and THEN through a diffuser and up through the entire resin, thus less likely to cause channels...which they too say, equates up-to 30% more efficiency.

On a 'normal' standard Vessel, the water enters the top through the head....but the water falls onto the resin and travels down through the resin, and then up the tube'n'out. It is the incoming water falling onto the resin is what can cause the formation of the 'resin channels' resulting in less efficiency, as the volume of resin in the vessel is not being used in it's entirety as the water will find the easiest path to flow down through the formed channels.

So....to make you standard vessel 'upto' 30% more efficient......either....

Make a difusser for the top of the tube so that incoming water can fall evenly on the resin

OR........

Just give the standard vessel a good-bloody-shake.....

Just a silly idea, but what do you think about putting 1-2 of these in the di vessel?

Do you think they would just sit at the bottom?

I take it back lol

the way i imagined it was that as water enters the flow would move these around giving the resin a whirl, the idea came from protein shakers, but obviously the water flow doesn't move resin around freely otherwise there wouldnt be channelling.

Alright, I was just waiting for the rain to stop...

But the dispenser idea definitely stuck in my mind now, so I will keep thinking about how to make one diy

Just to point out if you take a look at a those silly 10" di refillable cannister the water passes down the sides of the outter case then through the di canister which has a water diffuser type filter top and bottom so the water passes through the resin evenly when under tap pressure.

Much easier to change resin on the unger ones and inline Tds meter as well you know me smurf I luv a new bit of kit even though these have been out a while lol

Same principal as this is one I have been working on for good couple of years. Have had the same media for over a year and have used it now and then and done trails with it sitting outside in freezing temperature. Have never tested the ppm for a good few months, today it is sitting at 000 ppm. Tomorrow it goes out with a commercial outfit on trials. This was designed for a total different application but tried it do clean my own windows living out in the country side with tap ppm of 112.

thats a great looking system for ease of change of resin for high volume users which...
I suspect neil is:D

and I think neil is thinking once he starts a job he hates wasting time as he suddenly finds his resin letting him down..

so that is so easy to slip a new one in and off you go..

er yep neil with you on that as remember...IM ON A TROLLEY,only 20 litres and it always runs out with half a window to go...

probably just shake the bags around a few times before disposing to be sure its all used but...

usually the manufacturers spoil it somewhat by the high stupid price for the resin...re smurfs post above..

however....me pretty sure you could make a reusable bag or get a reusable bag off ebay as they are so much easier to fill than di vessels look..and you can do that in free time at home so when you get stuck in and go psycho like I do....you dont have to stop for long and lose your pace.../emoticons/biggrin.png

Anyone know the cheapest place to buy two 6ltr vessels ? I'm not paying £230 each its a mad price but I like how quick you can change the resin plus they look good too
