I had my landline disconnected a few years before starting up as a window cleaner simply because I didn't want to pay line rental on something I didn't use..

..been window cleaning 9 months now using just a mobile number/email/website...

Do you guys think I maybe missing out on some of the more mature potential customers who still won't phone a mobile number???

If you have both, which gets more calls???

Mobile all the way - there not gonna expect you to be sat at home - most people text nowadays anyway - if there old fashioned they prob want vinegar and newspaper method!!

if they want you, REALLY want you theyll call whatever your number is - even if its a premium rate number . i might even consider gettin one of these .

iv only had a mobile since i started and have never had anyone mention or hint that they wish id had a landline

I think @peter rogers has it spot on. A landline might add an element of trust? And you could always get it to automatically divert to your mobile? Even if it only makes a difference with a couple of customers, they all count /emoticons/smile.png

I have had several customers say the reason they dealt with me is because of my landline and name and address on my leaflets. The calls I recieve on it dont justify expense-the credibility does.Shame its such a stitch up pricewise -about £120 a year

Might be worth giving your just your address if cost is an issue.I would never do business with a strangerfor more than a few quid unless I had a way of getting hold of them in case of a screw up.Although customers wont say it-in the back of their mind they are thinking what happens if something goes wrong.

I guess one new customer pretty much covers the line rental cost...only I've got a draw full of leaflets and business cards already printed....van sign writing to change....website to change.... listings on yell and all the rest of it....is it worth cost/effort?

Yeah I would say landline would possibly be better as I am sure some are still a little unsure about calling a mobile or feel it does not look as professional.

I always used a mobile though as didn't want to give out my personal house number. Getting an extra line was not really an option as was not that cost effective.

Ive never used a landline, just mobile.

I like the rerouting to ur mobile when they ring your landline though.

I just use a mobile. I've had people call me up for jobs at 10:30pm in the past, I wasnt too happy about it, but it would **** me off even more if the landline had woken my kids up.

My address is on business cards but not on flyers

If someone gets a flyer it has mobile and facebook page and only has road name not number on it

I've had some late calls/txts "can you do blah blah blah first thing tomorrow?" "err no" normally on a Sunday to!

Thing is I want the work and especially the 'grey pound' as I find older people tend to be in and pay or if not the cheques straight in the post no messing but I started this business to work around a young family so late calls is no bueno....

Yep, and its usually the 1 off spring cleaners that want their 4bed done for £10.

Mobile, because im mobile, what goods a landline when im not in to answer it.

Also with a mobile its easier to see whos calling, i have a lot of numbers in my mobile named things such as ******, ****, bell end, shitbag etc, these are ex custies or idiots ive met in my line of work, i know not to answer them

...good idea, file that one under c##t me thinks....

I've got landline, mobile & fax on my business cards and email footers, although we only work business2business so its pretty essential for them.

9 times out of 10 they just call the mobile as they guess I'm out....working!

I don't have a landline because my *•!**•+* **^~•* ....... beautiful children persistently pull the plugs out of the wall. It's the clip bit that they love. So we've given up on a landline for that reason.

But - Internet .....or more specifically Wi-fi is a must for us so we do pay for a very unused landline grrrrr. Surely that's gotta change soon. The other options / ways round it seem either unsuitable or too ££££?

We manage to get decent 3G coverage in our area so I just use mobile internet for everything with tethering if I need to use tablet/laptop but to be honest my mobile takes care of emails/Paypal/roundpartner/mobile banking/Google maps and pretty much anything else I need...a landline would be just to receive customer calls...

my landline reroutes all calls to mob number its cheap enough with sky
Hi Pete - how much do sky charge for this service - I'm with them and would like to get my landline number to divert to my mobile as I do think having a landline looks more trustworthy. Cheers
