Whatho everybody, I'm new here. This forum is the cats pyjama's in my opinion.

Now here is my question.

Started window cleaning with wfp (slx 25ft) and I have a spot of bother. I've been practicing with the pole on my house. I have poled my upstairs velux windows about 4-5 times over the last two days. They really should be gleaming, one would imagine. However, when I ankle upstairs to check my work I find that the window is below par. There seems to be a film of dust over the window which is quite ground on. I can remove it with a dry cloth and a bit of effort.

What am I doing wrong chaps and chapettes? I am using a super lite mixed medium hybrid brush. At full extension I cannot seem to get any pressure into the brush head.

Thanks for reading this. Looking forward to your oodles of experience.

Velux windows are near enough impossible to get perfect.

It all depends on the angle of the velux. When you are cleaning the velux you are not really putting any pressure on the glass. You brush is just simply brushing over it.

There are loads of methods to make em perfect but not with just simply brushing them. You can change the brush angle to dig in on the way up. That can help.

Aha! That is good to know. I expected that my technique with the pole was going to be a tad rough, but was beginning to worry that I was an utter simpleton. Much obliged for your response dear Damo.

I am curious to know though what other methods would be preferable for the odd velux.

Apart from cleaning from the inside.

Little bit of soap on brush.

Or my preferred method is the Gardiner scraped with scrubbing pad. Flip it over. Scrub window quickly. Then clean.

If you spent ages and ages cleaning. They would be better. But it's the pressure issue tbh.

I er  dont tend to notice them...stuck up on the roof...

some I have and have to do a good job on I climb up my ladder and do them from above the gutters ...I realise some may not have a ladder but cheapie loves his and would take it to bed if his wife would let him..

yes with you there damo first cleans after they have been left are a pain..

but once done proper and kept done quite often they are okay..

skipped one lot last time...cause the dog would have barked...

and another because they were open...

so er...I USE a lot of excuses../emoticons/biggrin.png

I simply state we don't charge for them. Quick flick over with brush. Gone.

Never had a complaint since I started this. Then if anyone was to moan. Would just explain that they are hard to clean.

agree damo ...after all they do flip over ..

I do have one sweet 90 year old that takes half an hour to open a velux with a pole for me to do the inside....and soon as she goes in I just shut it...

well I do clean it once in a blue moon.

I am up on the roof for that one anyway.

yep good excuse to up the price...oh I didnt include them as they are cleaned from the insides...but I CAN clean them if you want..

FOR A PRICE..
