How good are ROs in Vans?

If I get my one bedroom flat, my only option to make pure water is to run a hose from kitchen sink to van (12meters away) to an RO in van. The guy I buy water from said he had heard of people having problems with ROs in vans and that it was better to have them in a garage ( I will have one but no tap if I buy this flat). The problems were - water not being shut off and filling the van, freezing in winter. Can you get a system or do I really need to find some small garden space and an outside tap?

I wouldn't hook up to the kitchen sink I would have a plumber add in another tap under the sink and run the hose through the wall somehow.

My RO is mounted in the van and is truly sound. I only got a 20 inch but fills 500lts easy in about 5 hours.

I do between 25-30 houses per day and to date have never got caught short.

Of course the bloke you buy your water from does not want you to put an RO in the van as he will be out of pocket /emoticons/tongue.png

van mount is grand mate as long as u secure it in right . if the ro and filters are rollingaround the van u can bet theyll be wrecked in no time

also i fill my van from under sink as i live in flat on 2nd floor and no where to put outside tap

This is great news. I was getting worried about getting this first floor flat. I was going to get the plumber to put in a second tap next to normal sink tap, but one with a thread . Basically an outside tap inside. The drips would just go down sink. Surely if the tap is under the sink dripping would be a problem?

How/where did you get rid of the ro's waste water from the van? There's tons of it isn't there.

The plumber said he could squeeze an outside tap in the ledge behind sink, but would have to drill through worktop. This shouldn't cause any risk for flooding, should it?

I think connecting underneath sink is risky (plumber said this) for flooding so above sink or even better putting a tap outside- ( for this have to get management company of flats permission).

I was running a hose from a kitchen sink for a couple of years with no problems at all...van mounted ro is really good had one from the start and I've been going 5 years now..Make sure you put some blankets over everything in the winter and stick an oil filled radiator in there too...Other good thing with a van mount is you can fill up at the custys houses!

There's a lot of waste water from ROs. Could I just stick the waste hose on the communal gardens (subtlely) so the other people don't see it too obviously and not worry about flooding the lawn? Or is it better to stick waste hose down a drain?

put a length of hose on and put it down the drain . if manangment company get a sniff of u flooding a garden excess they can contact landlord not good cheap length hose of few quid its all about were u park the van and the closest drain

Your landlord will probably come looking for you @slippy sooner or later as he will be aware of an increase in water usage when the water bill arrives. He may call out a plumber to look for a water leak initially. When none is found he will hone in on the window cleaner advertising his services on the side of his van.

He could then want to bill you with the increase of water usage and the plumber's charges.
