I probably own about 20 different utility knives, I think about 8 live in the van. If you ever want to buy a new knife just ask and I'll review a few for you.

Think a knife could be debated as needed for our jobs? I have a really nice sharp knife but its over the 3" allowed AND it locks so always nervous about taking it out the house.

I have 1 in my car..about 6 inches long fixed blade that i had down the allotment

I keep it in a box with all my screwdrivers etc and spare channels and such like

I don't see how i could get in trouble for it as would only use it in the boot of the car if needed to cut hose etc and it isn't readily available to grab as a weapon would be

The mini baseball bat / cosh under my seat would be a different matter but i take no chances early in the morning lol

Leatherman wave usually, used to be in my pocket 24/7 but lately not so much. You'd be surprised how much it gets used, at least once a day, not just the knife, but pliers, wire strippers, scissors, screwdrivers (interchangable bits)... I couldn't live without it and if I ever lost it I would buy another straight away. It won't ever break, used it daily for 6/7 years and not a scratch on it. And against logic the knife is still razor sharp and I've never sharpened it. Totally recommended!

I have a small leatherman on my keyring that is a small plier, knife etc, and as you MrBump I use it pretty much every day for something.

It makes you wonder how we could of possibly survived before without one Diwrnach doesn't it! /emoticons/biggrin.png

My plumber buddy has his Leatherman on his belt 24/7.

Leatherman also has a lifetime guarantee, my mate has knackered his twice now, sent it in to Leatherman and they have sent a free of charge replacement every time.

He's broken 2?! Blimey that's good going. I reckon a tank could drive over it and it would be finE. Good to know though if somehow I managed to break it they would send a replacement.

I'm getting the leatherman rebar for me birthday @MrBump canr wait, they are amazing quality tools!

The one I've got at the mo isn't a leatherman but it's done me well for about 5 years

Hey if its done you proud for 5 years you can't ask for much more than that  Leathermans are rock solid, especially when compared to most other multi tools. You've love it! It'll be your new best friend lol. Not heard of the rebar but I'm sure its awesome as they all are.

Just looked it up, its looks sweet but the one thing I would say to think about from a practical point of view is that it looks like you have to open the pliers up to get to the knife inside, the blade then faces 'inwards', the most common thing I do is get the leatherman out of my pocket and then just slide the blade open with my thumb, and can shut it too, its insanely quick and easy and can all be done with one hand as its on the 'outside' on the tool. Worth thinking about as the daily ease of use of any tool will only make you love it more /emoticons/biggrin.png Not seen it in person though so you may be able to do it all ome handed.

True, although it's cheaper than the wave and smaller/lighter, but it's something to consider!

Although I'm not too worried about having to have the pliers out to get to the tools, reviews on YouTube seem very positive!

Fair do's, I'm certainly not trying to put you off. The wave is a heft of a tool though your right! Took me a good year or two to get used to the extra weight in my pocket, although now I don't notice it. If you want to know what it feels like, take the biggest fist of coins you can hold and chuck it in your pocket lol. I'm not saying get a wave, any leatherman is cool as chips, just saying the most useful thing for me is to be able to get the blade out quickly and easily, I'm sure most of them you can do that. That might be totally doable on the rebar though too! Either way your gonna be sleeping with it under your pillow for months after getting it :D Oh and defo get one of these for it, (the black bit) its a pocket clip for about a fiver off ebay, my bro's who have gerbers are most jealous of fhe fact mine can sit on a clip whereas theres has to sit at the bottom of their pocket scratching their phones! ;)

Boarcity totally forgot to ask, whats a norwegian penknife?

View attachment 5062 it says NORSAS with a little propellor sign on it. im not sure if its norwegian. theres a little back story to it. Back when i was a mechanic a customer kept bragging to me hed driven nonstop several times Suffolk to Norway cos it was cheaper than flying.

i replied im not even sure if its possible to drive it never mind cheaper but he said Oh yes it is ,i always drive-

then i found this little knife from a norwegian airline ? sitting on his dashboard and decided it might pisss him off if it went missing

Basically a little swiss army knife then, looks handy enough. Can't see how driving to Norway would be cheaper, I flew there earlier in the year for about £95! Driving would take about 24hrs or more of continuous driving, plus ferry, bridges etc. You'd be knackered by the time you got there, sounds retarded. Unless it was a bugatti veyron in which case it might only take a few hours /emoticons/biggrin.png

I like utility knives becauseyou never have to worry about blunting/sharpening the blade. This is the stanley titan, just about the only knife you'll ever need; fixed blade is best, I've got 4.

I carry a Swiss Army knife. It saved me the one time; I was in a garden poling and the gate slammed shut, but slammed so hard that the latch went past the gate post. I couldn't budge it, so I unscrewed the handle and managed to escape from the garden. No way would I have got out if I hadn't had my knife on me.

it was a Vauxhall Astra estate . i now think its possible his faker "nonstop long haul "tale was to make sure i didnt miss anything ,did a more thorough job than the norm when servicing his car-he wouldnt want to break down halfway to Norway, thered be hell to pay once he was back home . i can remember glancing at his aged Astra and thinking it must be one of the oldest crustiest cars to do long haul
