who has them & do they bring in much work?? i'm thinking about getting one but the more i read up the less i understand it all eg hosting , ceo's etc

Mine looks basic but I'm told in has the words that Google likes to move it up the rankings:

www.newleafwindowcleaning.co.uk

It seems to be working as its moved up to the 3rd page in (8 months) when searching for 'Brighton window cleaner' or something similar.

As long as the website is advertised on the van then this should bring in jobs especially within the areas that you already work as neighbours etc will see the van parked up. I have been quite surprised about how many of these jobs come through - would recommend an online enquiry form for just this purpose.

Another big bonus is an online payments function e.g Paypal.

Would recommend paying someone to get it done of your like myself and don't really understand how it all works.

It will only bring in work if your near the top of the first page on Google, so my advice from expierence would be get a good website developer/designer to make one for you and ask him/her to work on the SEO which is what gets it ranking high on the first page,

If you do that, you'll never look back, my work exploded with top ranking website, but only when it hit top spot as that's where most people click...

my website usually brings in 10 Jobs a week.

That's on all the services we offer.

Recently as much as 5-15 a day. Starting to quieten down now.

@Dodger did mine. /emoticons/smile.png

Yes I have one and yes it brings in work every day. To the degree that I have a message on my contact page stating that I have no room for new clients at the moment.

Whilst sat here drinking tea watching the rain, I have turned away three potential new clients.

My site is a build your own through yola. In my opinion, you don't need to spend a fortune on designers.

SP cleaning turning down work

and theres me sat here desperate for more work worrying how im going to pay my bills this month whilst it pisses it down.

what a contrast lol

Yes here at minute, lets just say its hard going up here, lots of windys and cheap prices.

Getting a bit fed up with it lately thinking about jacking it but dont know what else to do:( cant go on forever struggling to pay bills though its driving me insane

What about adding other services?

Its darkest before the dawn....

Slightly cheesy but I think quite applicable when it comes to window cleaning and being self employed generally.

If it's definitely what you want to do then stick at it mate. Retaliate with fire & brimstone until you achieve what you initially set out to accomplish.

i do get quite some Work through my website, but it has really picked up over the last month. When you do a website you got to have patience because the longer it stays there and if you know just a tiny miny bit of SEO you can get to page 1 or 2 without paying a dime.

i build my own site through Wordpress really easy to use.

@TolishAPurd i want to mate, but its hard to buy equipment and advertise other services when youve no money to do so, need the windows first for regular work.

its catch 22 atm.

ill see where i am next week after the canvassing and go from there, might have to take another part time job or sumthin

In a startup you cannot be the supplier of all services, therefor its important to select a service that will bring you good steady income (windowcleaning) then when you have a round sorted you can start to look into others services. And dont stop advertising because its expensive keep doing it, its the only way of growning your business. use flyers etc. Things that can get you loads of Work without the massive cost.

I understand mate, but you'll be amazed what you can do with a basic tool kit. Most of my work in my early handyman days was hanging pictures, blinds and cirtains. When a people *cough* women*cough* move house they often need awhole house sorted, so easily a day or two of work with noting more then with the basic tools most blokes already have.

I dissagree mate, because I did just that. I started as a handyman, and once found myself cleaning gutters before I even realised people made a living just from that. I advertised for just about everything even when I didnt have the tools needed for the job. When I went to quote I would work out how much the tools are and factor that into the quote. Yes I was skint for a while, but fter a while the same jobs would come around again and it would be almost pure proffit. In order to do this you have to have a little bit of cash in the bank to help you along so I'm not recommended the full service to Adam, but like I said above, there is a lot you can do with just basic tools, for people that either don't have the time, tools, or ability to do for themselves.

As far as the advertising goes, you don't need to advertise it with your window cleaning, you can just advertise seperately under a different name, and make light mention t existing customers. I make a good living from it now, but I won't lie, it was tough in the early days.

I know it's what you want to hear but you're gonna have to canvass canvass canvass.

Are you still apprehensive about the door knocking?

It could be this single thing that makes or breaks you.

I did mine just last winter (new to it like yourself) and set small targets of three a day. It sometimes took all the daylight hours to get the three but I think it just has to be done.

those websites all look good, even the one in ? norwegian? i dont want to do one myself cos i really am bad at stuff like that so any recommendations to do it, i'll as k dodger as well cheers

yep starting to realise this mate, im not as bothered as i was tbh but i still dont want to do it, its about as far from my comfort zone as possible, i thought i could build a round without having to canvass and i probably can but it would take years at the rate im going.

will have to orgainze my round properly as im going back n forth dashing about all week wasting time. i im working everyday but spinning the wheels and not getting anywhere, probably got a month or two before it starts getting dark on a night so i will have to be on it from monday. cant do saturday i have kids, cant do sunday i work part time.
