Having never had sign writing on my van, I'm chuffed! Looks so much better.

Absolutely! Definitely. I've never advertised, and wondered why my phone never rang! Lol Then I heard from someone about free ads in the pages and Thomson! Do I tried it, and Bingo! Picked untold houses over the past few years.

Van looks great! Its amazing isn't it, when you see the before and after you think to yourself it felt naked before, unfinished and how could you ever drive around with an unwritten van again not advertising your business!

You have badges coming out of your ears lol, makes you look very qualified. Is there any point being a member of the fwc?

I've only just joined 2 months ago! The stuff in their shop is quite a bit cheaper than where I usually buy from (WCW) so have to see with time I suppose. I actually looked to join after seeing it on another van thinking he looked very "official" so was really on that basis, and then finding discount gear quids cheaper. I joined with just one year in mind, but will see...

Thanks Green, assuming that last sentence was aimed at me /emoticons/biggrin.png
Cheers adamangler. On the back it will say window cleaning and carpentry, once some slight scuff marks have been touched up. I am swaying towards getting rid of the property services and replacing with window cleaning, most carpentry is through word of mouth anyway, just felt it might be wierd turning up and getting my woodworking tools out of a van with windows written all over it. Who knows, might even focus on windows next year anyway and make furniture in my own time, although thats just a dream for now. Are you going to add window cleaning to your van? The only time I can imagine someone taking down your number is when you parked up outside a customers house and they can see you working...
Im going to redo my van as soon as i get chance, ive been quoted £80 for the kit off the guy who made mine before but this time to include as many large images as i like.

Im holdong fire for now as im about to get into carpet cleaning so just thinking of the best way to do it for windows/carpets/car valeting/pressure washing/conservatorys/upvc&gutters/solar panel/office cleaning lol

You should also go with seperate sites mate and seperate personas if you will, peopl are more likely to want a carpenter who just does carpentry, if you have windows on your site i think its detracts from that, i have one site for valeting and one for conny/gutter/windows, i think if i had it all on one people would think he does car valeting on the side rather than he is a car valeter. im getting a carpet site built soon too, ive already built one myself www.carpetcleaningwakefield.co.uk but want a pro one

you can keep 1 persona, have 1 facebook account, 1 twitter etc, 1 email address, just get multi sites and maybe 1 main one covering everything linking off to the other sites

£80 is good value. You could just say cleaning services or cleaning and maintenance.

Can't be arsed with two sites, two lots of social media, two phone numbers, two seo etc. All my stuffs in the same van anyway and just me so all the same identity /emoticons/wink.png People might feel conned if their window cleaner turns up to do some woodwork and they didn't know. I don't really promote carpentry anyway, its on my leaflets but only gets a mere mention, most of it is about windows. I don't want much carpentry work anyway, but I do get some of my window cleaning customers asking me about carpentry, so from that respect its good to keep them linked. I can totally see what you mean how someone might want specialists in each area, but I don't specialise, have one van, just me etc so just tell it like it is  Some peeps do get confused with property services though thinking I'm a sales and lettings agent but what can you do, there isn't a word for window cleaning and carpentry lol, I guess I could of used maintenance or improvements or something but figured the website would be longer and increases the chance of mis spelling it.

Liking the website. Saw you've gone with pro-cleaning, perfect, that covers all services. How the hell do you get that triangle effect on the carpets, very cool

yeh, im still deciding what i want to do long term really lol, just experimenting, the window cleaning is proving difficult to build up in this area, lots of low priced guys about so thats why im thinking of doing a fair few things and seeing where my interest/profit takes me.

the triangle effect is just the carpet fibres brushed in opposite directions along a straight edge to make the shape

Yeah I know what you mean, I did start by offering all services known to mankind, but quickly decided I didn't want to outlay for all the equipment I'd need and whittled it down to wfp-based stuff (plus interiors) and carpentry, just cos I enjoy the design and making side of things. But to be honest quite like cleaning windows too, it is making me ocd though haha and when I walk past a house with dirty windows now I almost spit on their driveway in disgust  But the best thing about windows and why I chose to make it my focus (aiming for 3 weeks windows, 1 week woodwork), is that its regular income and once full can stop advertising, whereas anything else its continuous marketing. Always fun to do different things though and not make all days the same, more interesting that way and you see more different types of places, people etc.

May offer carpet cleaning one day maybe, but what do you do if theres a stain you can't remove? That would bug the hell outta me lol. That traingle effect is cool, I want that in my lounge haha

completely agree about the self marketting, thats what im aiming for.

i dont push car valeting i just have 1 website at a cost of £10 per month that generates approx 5k per year of work.

i want to do the same with carpet cleaning, just advertise on website

and the same with windows/connys & gutters

im hoping to get some training soon for carpets, ive only cleaned my own do far just got the machine, ive tested the water with facebook and its seems an in demand service so im quietly optimistic about it

What machine do you have just out of interest? been asked for carpets twice now in the last 6 months and don't do it at all, not sure I fancy it really, but hey always a good idea to check these things out /emoticons/smile.png

I have an extracta exel, oldish machine but good condition and will do the job

need a few more bits before i start and some training

Biggest thing is to know how to test the carpet fibers against shrinkage or discoloration Adam, apparently it is quite the mine field out there.

If you are looking for a machine Diwrnach my friend has about 5 for sale, all used with all the accessories.

Cash wise on standard houses he says £40 for the first room, £20 per room there after, hall and stairs £40. Commercial jobs £1 per square meter.

Hope that helps.
