Barbecue underneath window!

Your profile says nw london which is why i got confused you working in bushey

I was proper nw london as in w10 and then nw9

You must be ha or wd then lol

Weren't you from edgware originally or is that someone else?

Any good degreaser + warm/hot water and the most important part ....a white magic block. Then trad or WFP as normal. I get "BBQ windows" over here a lot... this combo hasn't failed me yet.

This always works great for me.

I always carry a small spray bottle of vinegar based glass cleaner to use on leaded windows, but works great on grease spot marks from a close BBQ.

Spray on liberally then wipe all over with a wet cloth. Give it a good rub then clean as normal.

Never use an applicator straight on grease spots as it'll be useless after.

What do you use that cuts through that toughened dried grease on the glass?
any solvent will get it off i use ubik 2000 i then tell the custmer to move the babarbuqe cos it will burn in to the glass and i wont b able to get it off /emoticons/biggrin.png they soon sxxxxhit there self and move it :ninja::rofl:

Yeah, I always start the convo with a smile and say...obviously u can do exactly what you want to do, but I'm only just telling you if u BBQ underneath a window like that you're eventually gonna destroy it, and u won't be able to see thru it.

But, I guess if I use these tips they'll be able to see I get it up to scratch again!! Use to just scrape the thing, and isn't 100%. Or if it was a job that was a serious pain in the ass that I really didn't want, I'd just tell them I was a Spurs fan, and would generally lose the job or wouldn't hear from them ever again. Then I found my van kept getting smashed up over night by these very same customers. So I just changed to Arsenal and now I get tips of £50+ on every job I do, it's blindin'!! I would just soak with a sprayer loaded with Ubik 2000 (Originally designed for commercial kitchen cleaning) then use a nail brush to give a quick scrub. That's the grease hacked through, now clean as usual.

I would also say to the customer, I will clean it as part of the regular £10 job this time, but as you can see it requires a lot more work than the other windows so if you plan on keeping the BBQ there that window will add another £5 per clean to the job in future.

The will most likely tell you to skip that window in future in that case saving you a bit of agro. Or they will move the BBQ or just pay as you have advised them of the cost. Any way it's a winner for you.

bbq my a-se

tell them to move it pronto as its destroying their expensive window and you are using specialist cleaning equipment which cost and time you will have to pass on to them

Yep, quite agree. I have found that usually you can tell when the window is starting to get bad, and at this point will mention it to the customer, so that covers me for the future if it gets too bad.

I would not Ubik or scrape

Solvent cleaner on a cloth -easy just melts it away

Then squeegee or brush as normal

I used Ubik for the first time today on cladding. Pretty impressive if left to soak for a good few mins.

I did notice thou, as I left to soak in, that it was leaving fluorescent yellow stains as it ran down the cladding, and needed some serious elbow grease to get off. Is this normal??

Came up top draw thou! Knackered now. All-Dayer.

That is because you are leaving it too long..it does stain if let dry

I apply and then scrub straight away..it works just as well but doesn't stain

No need to leave to dwell

Cheers Dave.

It was a warm day too. I was doing a large house with cladding, so was spraying in everywhere! My hands feel all weird now. Swarfega time!
