lol my min is 4 quid

thats for flat i do with 3 windows i have a few them beside other houses i do

on a concil estate i do they all £6 have a load of them and pick more up every time i go its up to 39 now

i start them at 8 finish at 3

thats 33 an hour and its handy work

would u really turn that down @MrBump

33 p/h sounds good, but it sounds like alot of work, it would take me a week to do all that!

Yes please Mr. Rogers that would be great!

Seriously I'd never be able to do 39 anything in 7 hours!

lol there is 2 windows and a door at back and 4 windows and door at front

7 hours is me taking it easy @MrBump maybe u need to learn to be faster asi think spped might be an issue

and dont say the quialty drops like

u need to get your finger out yer a r s e

and get your head ouuta the clouds

I have tried my **** in the clouds and my finger in my mouth but I'm still slow /emoticons/biggrin.png I didn't say theres any difference in quality, although I am ocd I'm sure both ways are good quality, I'd just rather be slow and steady and charge more lol.

Thats 6 windows and 2 doors, that'd take me half hour, then need to pack up, move van a bit, chat to the custy etc, now its 45 mins... You are a window cleaning superhero :ninja:

move the van ??? i move the van 4 times a day on that estate and u really think u get more for concil house we small windows on that to not big ones ?

maybe instead of your **** in the clouds u shud open up a glory hole make money for lying on yer back all day

theres your business model offer people it on a plate u get 100 quid an hour or let me guess u want 140 per hour ?

Alright easy Peter, I just praised you for being quick at your job and even called you a superhero, theres no need for that!

Not everyone is as fast as you with an 800ltr tank and can bash out 39 houses in a day :eek:o:

I think the approach of 'what price per house' is wrong, always we seem to be asking this question but never seeming to get the correct answer.

I believe it has to be looked at PERSONALLY by each individual as to how much per hour we wish to earn.

Lets say for example Jimroot would be happy at £20 per hour for being out cleaning windows then he could charge £7 for a average semi and be able to comfortably do three of those in an hour and be £1 above his target.

Then there is me, working the same road but I want £30 per hour, so I figure I can also do three semis in an hour but to meet my target I have to charge £10 per house, £3 more than Jim but both of us offering exactly the same quality service.

So Jim will get all the ones that are price orientated and I will get all the ones that were't home when Jim knocked on them.

@MrBump you seem to be in a similar boat to me trying to build up and getting no where fast, i know my problem is prices as the amount of work i turn down is crazy, i only get 1 in 5 that i quote and thats having an £8-£10 minimum.

£15 minimum is a lot mate, i dont know how much you are used to earning but if i could get £15 minimum i could do a grand a week im sure.

Maybe you would be better off dropping to a tenner and speeding up, i consider myself thorough and take about 20mins for a 3 bed semi but i know i can do my own in 10 mins a bit more slap dash but still decent quality.

not really possible to say a min price but me likes tenners...

I still have fiver semis but...me thinks up a pound in the spring...and its only because they are all together.

why can I do em for that? because I know when they are out and I run like the wind and I dont knock or get water or arsey about...

but you still get caught...me did today...well she is nearly ninety and gave me a cuppa but sometimes you have to chat...again though normally I always knock and go to the back door today I just said...Im okay I have got some water....

I have been to one tiny house three times and left it cause they are home...they must go out sometime surely...

yes I do seem to be getting a lot at a tenner now as its easier to carry and add up../emoticons/biggrin.png

Haha /emoticons/biggrin.png

Adamangler I am down south so I thought prices were a bit higher down here overall. Jake said his average was around £15 (not his minimum) and I'm sure others are too, plenty charge that for a house but it just isn't their 'minimum' but shows its an achievable target if you ignore the cheaper yet easier ones. And I do reckon I could definately do it, but it will just take alot longer than if I did drop my prices a little. But personally I'd rather do one big house for £20-30 that takes an hour to do than 3 semi's, but there are different markets available to all. To get a chunk of work at once I guess I'm going to have to actually go physically knock doors instead of my more passive approach so far  At least short term anyway.

Anyway we digress, the original theme of the thread was just out of interest peoples minimum prices related to where they are based. But I guess I missed out a vital part, that of which is your target market. Some may have a lower min. price but also be aiming for a higher quantity of houses per day, some higher prices but bigger houses and less per day. Either one could have a higher hourly wage than the other and thats the thing that really counts at the end of the day

Five pounds for four upstairs windows, house next door to one I'm doing, owner said they would do their downstairs. Eight pounds for a bungalow.

I've only been stick waggling 2 months now and can knock out a 3 bed quicker than when i was tradding and that would've only taken 20 minutes tops my quality of work is spot on as i don't go that fast that it suffers as i have a reputation to think of

Tenner a 3 bed minimum would see you on 30 squid an hour bumpy

I definitely think you need to work on your speed..i too am fussy but i can be fussy and quick at the same time

If you pushed it and got 12 quid a house that would be 36 an hour

That would mean 5.5 hour day 5 days a week for a grand

No need for extortionate pricing

yeh jim i,m the same got messers too the red card will be shown soon

had to produce it to night this customer kicking off big time " he had to pay £7 never met this tool before swearing and going totally over the top stormed off to his car to get cash.

by this time the card was out, he would normally kick off and tell him to stick his cash but no!! took his cash then told him would, int be back

twxt

I like Dave have no time for nattering. Bugger me, I had just finished a house yesterday of an old gal who witters on. I finally got to the stage where she started to look for her purse. Frig me the neighbour came walking past with her dog and the neighbour then says, Ooh he wants to turn round for some fuss and of course the old gal decides that she wants to go and stroke the b@stard dog instead of fishing about in her purse to pay me. My head nearly imploded /emoticons/biggrin.png

@MrBump if it takes near an hour to do a standard semi how long will it take u to do a big 5-6 bed detached house with conservatory ? yikes lol the windows t the start will be dirty by time u finish lol

its not so much your low,ist price its your hourly rate

you could have gd £6 houses what you could kick out ten mins

or have nice detached houses miles apart getting £15 no gd

you would be better off not having it and doing other work

Yeah point taken I do need to speed up. I regularly do 10-12 hr days in my other work, infact its normal, so it's not as though I shy away from hard graft. To lower my hours is my main goal to spend more time with my little boy and is why I want to switch to window cleaning as my main career. I've not even targetted any semi's or such yet as I thought I was a little over-priced for such properties hence have ignored them and target houses I feel more reasonable for my prices. I'm not out to rip anyone off by any means. But yes I get that 3x10 is the same as 1x30 and even better than 1x20 for example so is a possible path to explore. I chose from the outset though to aim predominantly for the upper-end of the market though overall.

Need to fix my hose and get a hole in the back to save on setting up times and someone is always in when I go so end up chatting etc, time just seems to disappear and I can't see myself ever reaching the speeds you guys get. Maybe if no chatting and smaller properties I may get a bit closer though
