How low do you go?

Lol yeah Peter I have a few properties that take me 2 hours to do, lots of windows, big conservatories etc. I charge appropriately though.. /emoticons/wink.png Well most, on some my hourly rate is almost at maccy d rates  I'll speed up one day lol

At first you need to target every house you see.rather than particular sizes or types etc

Once you have a built up round then you can slowly replace smaller jobs with better priced bigger ones

Don't forget if you lose a job the bigger ones make more of an impact instead of easily replaceable normal terraced jobbies

shocking thinking how much time is spent talking ****
Someone starts nattering to me I'm thinking about how many windows of the next house i could have just done. .some people are so frustrating

A good mix works for me

40 quid houses in the village, council and private average terraced in town and an estate of townhouses and loft conversion jobs on the outskirts

Nice to have variety too...oh and some small commercial units

@MrBump when u have spare time come to me for a holiday il put u up and show u how to go fast mate its nothing to do with skill or speed its the frame of mind u have to be in

i say u r like me when i first started

cleaning windies starring up thinkin of making millions and building the deathstar ... oops mean an empire lol

then i came down to earth and thought bout the next pane of glass to clean and then im off to next job and boom next one

right mind gets u onto speed

the fore is strong with me /emoticons/biggrin.png

I go into my own world, did a house today got in the car and actually went back to check the back door and kitchen window next to it as I wasn't sure I had cleaned them, couldn't remember doing it? I had though lol

@MrBump stick with it mate, I also consider myself to be slow, but I'm really pleased as to how things are going /emoticons/smile.png due to family commitments I can only work 9-3 Mon-Thurs and 9-6 on fridays I only average 6-10 houses a day earnings average between £100-145per day, I just can't see how some can do a 3-4bed detached in 20ish min?? I've been going now for only eight months but have a customer base of just under 280 regular customers and gaining more on a weekly basis and I can tell you this the 3 main reasons some of my customers have told me they no longer use the old cleaner are these:

No 3. He only cleand me a couple of times then just disappeared.

No 2. He just used to turn up sporadically when ever he felt like it

BUT No1 the main reason I've heard time and time again was " he was only here 10mins, I timed him once"

People like to feel that they are getting value for money, even if you can clean Buckingham Palace in 15mins and do a fantastic job, spotless ect ect old Queenie isn't going to feel she's had value for money :-( I get referrals from my customers all the time and one of the things I constantly hear is how thorough I am, now I know I'm probably no more thorough than quick-hand-luke but its comes down to the majority of peoples perception of value for money.

I price each house on an individual basis and never quote without physically seeing the property and I mean the whole property, I then think how long it's going to take and then charge accordingly to meet my hourly rate. So keep up the good work mate and you will get quicker, I am but Very SLOWLY ;-) SORRY forgot to add my min charge is £10 :)

I find if you can get a good run on a Monday it sets you up for the week to kick some serious **** I'm strictly trad only and I can squeeze £30 to £35 an hour I charge £6 a house 6 windows a house I stick with the rule of thumb of £1 a window also the more flashy the house then add a bit extra

Hulk price good! I agree with armagh I use the rule of thumb of £1 per window or door but now established have my £10 minimum still.

Remember if you have 3 x 10 lose 1 = 'oh well!' Go replace it.

If you have 1 x 30 and you lose it the its all gone mate.

Trad only and your doing £30-35 per hour at £1ish a window? 28-35 windows? How many houses do you do in a hour?

Greener great post! And very well done getting 280 custies in 8 months! How did you get most of those, with good old fashioned door knocking?

I've got some £4's and £5's that I do and a handful of £8 all rounder's. £10/£12 for an average 3 bed semi.

Spent the last hour of my day knocking out 6 x £6 fronts, all in a row, nice easy ones like this.....
