I think you should have pointed out to her that you charge her more because you pay insurance and run a professional business and that way if an accident like that were to happen to one of your customers you can do the honest decent and respectful thing by them and tell them, knowing your insurance will pay for the damage.

The phrase "you get what you pay for" springs to mind, I agree Karma. Great thread.

love the karma thread...

yeh that innuendo bingo is great...radio one being the only station I can get on my radio since my ladders ripped the aerial off...

many a time laughing my head off listening to that..

ya gotta laugh at life it gets you through the day..

really funny my sons k swiss trainers he gave me...eight times last week the laces came undone and really annoyed me..

today...they both came undone at the same time...

now I wonder why he gave them me?

now nobody else but me would kick a brick wall cause it snagged my hose...and that was twice...dont think the wall was bothered..

Approached by a woman last Wednesday with the usual "hi, I'm next door but one, any chance you can do mine as well"? I thought "I recognise this woman", sure enough when I look at her place I remember the big conservatory, I'd quoted this job nearly two years ago for £20 and she was horrified, reckoned the old cleaner only charged £8.

Quote this time was £25 and she bit my hand off, when I cleaned it I noticed the upstairs upvc cills were covered in black scratches, I asked if the previous cleaner used a wfp, he did. Made a mental note to be careful to avoid doing the same myself, it don't look good, especially if someone's just forked out thousands for new windows.

I had a customer text me last Friday saying there is a windy in the road charging £12 for 3 bed houses and could I match it (I charge £20 as it isn't a normal 3 bed, 1 massive bedroom window over a conny which needs a 30' pole, big **** off conny too). I replied by saying it sounded cheap and will he clean sills and front door etc not knowing if he had quoted the house or not. Within minutes I get a picture text of this other cleaners flier, the prices were all 'FROM' I texted her back pointing this out and she didn't reply. She is due this Friday and I normally text her before to leave gate open and money. Would you guys not bother with that job again? It's the only one I do in her road.
I think that if your happy with earning the £20 for the clean and its worth your while, then I'd give her one more chance, but if its just one of those jobs you could happily do without doing then forget her? Although I have plenty of customers who's house is the only one I do in that road it doesn't bother me because I'm the optimistic type who likes to think one house could always lead to others /emoticons/wink.png

Hi @Danfire do you use WFP? Just wandering how you noticed the damaged sills? Do you climb up and check them before cleaning?

Ive neglected my music collection the past few years, need a decent download of mp3 s i reckon. Radios good for a while but sometimes u need that boost of playing some of your all time fav tunes, i used to listen to prodigy for this to name one band
Loved prodigy early days - jilted Generation total classic

I do a bit of both, mostly trad but have a backpack and pole for stuff that's out of reach on the ladder. I was on the ladder for this clean. Hope I don't scratch the cills, I usually stand back, hold the pole high to bring my bristles down on the cill, maybe I should do an occasional check to make sure I'm not doing the same damage.

Im a bit busy converting vinyl to pc at the mo with my mates turntable..gotta get one of those as my 1210s are a bit to old to do that

Doing my silver bullet album "bring down the walls" at the moment

Can't buy this stuff anywhere nowadays

Except discogs.com for 99p a track

I lost my vinyl collection a couple months ago, it was at my mates house who was looking after it when we were in a flat and didnt have much room

He got married had a baby and then died of cancer recently and when i went round to see his wife who needed help with some paper work i asked about the recods and she said she had thrown them all away  i used to like beatles, i had the white album with all the pictures and stuff, which was actually my dads who brought it, still had woolworths price tag.

I got a new customer today saying the windowcleaner she had was using that pole thingy and it was wrecking her pebble dashing on the house so could I do the windows from now on and fair play under all the top windows the dashing was falling away but surely wfp can't do that unless he's literally drenching the dashing can it lads

It will be old render that is already rotten and knocking it with the brush will just encourage it to fall off

It gets wet and frozen during the winter and eventually starts to lose structural integrity

This new job you got smells like trouble.

I've noticed that pebble dashed walls are nice and white where the pure has dripped down on them.
