Bad payers/slow payers.

thats gd mate as @Green has recently went solo and i was thinkin of bringing people in until he told me wat happened with him

which van u get then new tranny or the oul tranny /emoticons/tongue.png

If they don't pay they don't get the next clean, I won't do as some and 3 strike rule etc, miss a payment you don't get them cleaned next time and get a reminder, then a final reminder, then a letter intermingled with me knocking on the door.

Here's an example of a customer that owed 5 cleans, I put a note through saying 'please pay this week as I don't want it adding up much more for you' then got a text that evening...

I don't mind as long as I get it! Although I would mind if it was the norm, but I have 3 or 4 customers that let it rack up over months, but they always pay, so it's ok in end... It's nice getting a lump sometimes anyway

Also to add to that if I get any kind of hastle getting paid I never clan them again after i do finally get paid.

Its like 10-15 quid, it aint never worth dicking about for hours trying to collect that all the time.

Constant Messers have to go! The ones that have a couldn't care less attitude and you can just tell, they'll always be like that. I'm starting to cleanse my round of all the sh1t now as it starts to get you down dealing with people like that! Picking up new work fairly frequently but no doubt a few of those will turn out bad as that's just how it goes.

Went to collect from a custy the other night, husband answers the door. "She ain't here mate"

"Ok, erm, any chance you could pay me, save me coming back?"

"Nah mate" *slams door*

Found out from neighbours she'd attacked him with a lump of wood and was spending the night in a cell

might leave that one!

So you and the old man have parted? What did you want that differed?
He wants to semi retire. I wanted to expand. Back to basics for the moment. Lots of behind the scene stuff to sort.

Mainly cleaner planner !

Keeping it simple is sometimes the best way for a while Damo, I did just that and now business has blossomed nicely.
Sometimes all you need is some room to breathe and think and it will all work out.
yep exactly that. The problem for me is Admin. Need to get things running smoothly as its hard work running stuff on your own. Getting there tho. Another 2/3 months I am sorted.

Just need to a total day of rain and I can get a lot of cleaner planner updated.

Tomorrow looks bad but I have at least two big jobs I can do in rain !

Been on CP for nearly a year bud.

Just slow going. I wanted all the transactions as well. Rob can only import customers and not their payments. Charges.

Damo how on earth do you manage to have 550 custies on your own? Plus add-ons too. You must work from 5am to 9pm! Are they all on an 8 week schedule or something or are you just related to an octopus? /emoticons/biggrin.png

I was using my speeadsheets but went back to books

2 diarys

1 for writing down who i have done and paid or not etc (that's the one the taxman would get to see if he wanted)

The other 1 is my working diary

I work on a monthly basis (tried 5 weekly but monthly works best..same week each month and 5th week is for doing odds and sods or catching up..a bit like @Green does it

I use the 1st diary to look at a particular day or week and then write in the working one when they are next due..if it gets changed or bad weather etc i can scribble it out as it don't matter if it's all messy which is just as well really with the weather we've had

All new jobs go in working diary and once done with no issues they go in the other 1 and their details go in the back pages for reference

Works perfectly with just a few hundred customers

Maybe not when i get as busy as @Damo

Old work mate has 1100 customers on a 5 week round, and at one point was doing it on his own trad!

He's always had a worker with him, but a couple of years ago a worker left and he was on his own for a year, don't know how he did it, but he did, and that's without wfp,

He's very motivated though, starts at 7:15am and works Right through till 3-4, probably one of the best window cleaners around, been doing it 20 years now, he's like a machine! He was doing upwards of 40 houses a day, but did end up going more like every 6 weeks, still, it's amazing, all this trad as well.

He's got someone back working with him now - phew!
