Hi Guys New Here And New To Window Cleaning

WCF

Help Support WCF:

That's a bit of luck. Both finding an area where other windies have vanished and getting the right customer spreading the word. I went out leafletting on sunday and got chatting to a lady who said a father and no son had been doing the road and area for 18yrs now. An affluent area where most people have been there decades and his prices are lower than mine (his is £10 bungalow in an affluent area, seems cheap to me, but then he has whole streets of 50-60), I have no chance lol. Plus she said hes just had a kid and bought a house so he's not going anywhere either. I am slowly getting 1-2 new custies a week but I am wondering whether I should lower my prices a little and try to build a round quicker. But then it may not be price but the fact that everyonr already has a windy around here, which seems the case, I'd say over 75% and not everyone wants one, so there is slim pickings left unless a windie goes out of business without selling on their round, which I can't see happening. Just need to find that untouched area somewhere...

I am very proactive in getting my name about..not by canvassing but by other means..chatting to the right people..asking custys to take some of my cards and give one to anyone they know who's looking for a windie etc

Got a phone call from stevenage borough football club asking did i want a 2x4 metre advert in the ground for 12 months for 400 quid..i bartered them down to 300 and am going to speak to them again tomorrow. .2000+ people go to every game so worth a punt

Yeah I chat to peeps and ask them to recommend me etc. Rarely anything seems to come from it though. Its funny you say about advertising at a footy stadium as I was just looking into it last week and go to find out definitive prices tomorrow, think they are sold out this season though at the ground, but I will most likely book in for next season already as time flies and it'll be next august before I know it.

They have the academy next door and a new nursery who can all see the ads

Lots of mums with kiddies thinking "ook i could do with my windows cleaning"

Maybe worth a punt

Well the fact a nursery can see it makes it tens times better. Only things to think about with footy grounds are only half the games are at home, so roughly 20 times it will be seen and it will be basically the same 2,000 people each time lol. But worth a punt like you say, especially if it can be seen anyway by nursery etc

Like others have said, the more you have the more you get, the proverbial snowball effect...I get the feeling my customers must like me, they pass my number onto relatives and friends, I try to be friendly, take time to chat if they want it...I realised most of my new stuff was coming from getting approached by neighbours when cleaning so when I didn't have many customers I took my time on the fronts to do a great job which is an advert in itself and to gain exposure to neighbours and passers by.

I've started to do a refer a friend on the gutter jobs I've had, told them to stick their details on the back of my card, pass that to a friend and if they book in a gutter or fascia clean and hand me the card back I'll give them £5 off their next clean (whatever it is) that way I'm getting a new job and hopefully getting my name out there too.

As many as you want or can manageYou will be slower at first plus most new customers have dirty frames and windows that will take longer to do the first time

Once you have been doing it a while 15 houses a day is not too much effort and will still give you time at home

I made the switch to wfp 2 months ago and can fly through my jobs now

Everyone has their own way but this is how quickly and easily you can clean maintenance cleans..i can clean quick trad but this does the frames and glass so much easier

Do you reckon wfp definitely leaves the glass looking better than trad dave?

No as trad done well does a very good job also

It is the frames i think look better as even though i clean them each time trad it isn't the same as cleaning it with pure rather than wet sill cloth

And even though i didn't believe it for years i reckon the glass stays clean longer

Right mate. I'm just trying to check all of the positives of going wfp i just dont want to make the wrong decision. Either way it will still be a good thing in my armoury even if my customers dont take to it. I mean for commercial stuff

Once customers see the finished job they will be more than happy with it
That's all i need to hear mate cheers. I could be starting to order the van set up stuff next week i think i will buy the stuff individually and get a garage to bolt the cage to the floor

Remember to be patient kev. The first couple of months will drive you crazy with niggles. After that you will be thrilled you done it. Good luck

That's the bit i'm not looking forward to, especially in the winter

Eltham and surrounding neighbourhoods is where I toil mate, you?
I love tradding but just seems logical to add a wfp setup at some point.

yeah, I think £10 for an average council house all round and £12 for an average 3 bed semi all round is about right. If just front then £5 for council £6 or £7 for 3 bed semi but of course it's dependable, porch/conny etc. I usually add a pound or two for leaded windows as it takes a bit more effort to trad them /emoticons/tongue.png

Sounds like you had one of the dodgy ones cleaning your windows, I've gained a lot of work from so called windies ripping people off! Not sure if I should love em or hate em /emoticons/biggrin.png

Can't believe he'd knock on your door at 10pm Cheeky sod!
Wow that is crazy! I charge 15£ for the front and if I bargain then no lower than £10 for the front. I've got 2 customers paying me 30£ and 45£ for front and back.

Money comes easy once we ask for it.

Always start high and climb down if customer isn't happy
