the soap test

I have always found that topping off the dirty water and a dash of soap never gives the same results as fresh does Tolish.

Perhaps you should consider an Unger Sprayer for part timer Ant, or even just a regular sprayer bottle he can keep on his belt.

Yep you're probably right, and maybe its just a bit too tight. I'm the same with my cloths, they always get a wash no matter how little use they have had.

And I do keep saying it but when used at directed dilutions GG4 works out cheaper than Aldi, Fairy, ecover etc etc.

7.5ml of GG4 to 3.78 liters of water.

So 1 3.8 liter bottle at £25 will give you 1925 liters of window cleaning solution.

Most trad days I would use about 2 buckets so about 8 liters, so if used at correct dilutions GG4 owuld give you 3 years of solution for just £25

Doubt Aldi can top that! /emoticons/tongue.png

Yep that would be logical and I have a couple so I'll try and persuade him to try using one, but it'll be hard work! Good window cleaner but just a bit strange really

Could be the end of dish soaps for me too, apart from first cleans. There was quite a few bottles on the shelf at B&Q when I bought one, not for much longer, I'm going back there tomorrow /emoticons/biggrin.png

So you're using an Unger/HG mix? Interesting!
yes i had to do something as the unger was sudless and not as good as the sqeegee off ill give a review buy wednesday

The WCD 70 which I've been using recently has only needed the tiniest thickness of line on my scrubber 3 times when doing a 4x2 house (approx 11-15 windows, including couple sliding doors). I've just dabbed my scrubber into bucket of water to give it the slightest of wetting then the slightest line of WCD 70. I hardly use any.

Looking forward to see what you think Ant. Can you also do a test in your favourite, the liquidator? Cheers
Right! Tried the liquidators with the HG today, well that lasted for 4 windows. Complete disaster!!

I mentioned my clips might be ruined and that still may be the case but they don't look that bad! So 14" and 10" both with rzr red in, just made a mess of the windows! Took me by surprise how bad it was

It was gripping the glass something rotten, leaving patches of water and lines aplenty! So back in the car with them for now.

I'll give them one last chance (I'm a reasonable man) with the benefit of new clips and different rubber but after that if not behaving, it's sayonara:D

Been using the HG solution for the last two days, really like it! You get bubbles but not too sudsy like dish soap. Found the slip ok too. My S plus loved it! Still get soapy lines now and again with the S plus but with this solution hardly any, and any I did get were more watery.Overall great to use and leaves the windows looking great too
So I went to Aldi the yesterday as I had a job close by, with the sole intention of picking up some more Magnum premium....not a single bottle on the shelves. I looked like a madman lifting up all the other trays to find some, and not even one bottle.....left empty handed.
So I ended up driving past B&Q and went to go pick up some squeegee off. They had none (think it may be homebase I saw it in @tench0771). But they did have this stuff, so I picked up a few bottles.

Very impressed with it today. Nice slip, and no streaking as it is a lot easier to get off than other thick soaps. Bubbles nicely, but no smell, well worth a buy but I'll have to see how economical it works out as it was about 4quid I think.
Are you using it on it's own, as in, no washing up liquid? When I used to use it you could not run a squeegee through without it dragging and squeaking.

No way that should be a problem, its slippyer than a slippy thing. Sounds like you need to squirt more in the bucket mate. I only plan to get 10 maybe 15 buckets out of a bottle if that gives you any idea. Stick a few dots on the applicator too, to kickstart the suds a little.

Yes just on it's own, and I'm honestly finding it really nice to work with! I haven't experienced any dragging (except for when I used the liquidators) It's also easier with detailing.

Yep, me neither. Defeats the object a little adding dish soap when most of the befefits are due to it not being a dish soap. Its got all the cleaning power it needs too. I'm just leaving it by itself and its just fine. For first cleans I'm using magnum.

i used the hg to day on its own i did go a bit over kill an put to mch in:rolleyes: but it was very good i dont think its quiet as good as the squeege off tho as the squeege off seems to sud up on the glass then u blade it off and the suds allmost dissapear , i found the bucket kinda gets less suddy as the day goes on to but i dont bother toping up as there is still anouth suds to wrk with ,also when polishing a window with squeege off u dont get the smear affect it just polishes off strate away were the unger leves a slite smear affect till u polish it clean ,tomorrow ill try the unger /hg mix c wat its like cant wate /emoticons/biggrin.png

Had a first clean this morning, found some Persil in the car so used that. Ultimately it did a good job as we know it will but, I really noticed the suds factor! So much more to wipe up on sills and frames. After that I was back on the HG and the difference was noticeable, plus I do think it leaves a better finish.

I tried squeegee off a while ago and remember liking it. I'm keen to try it again as i'm now more aware of the differences between soaps and solutions, also be good to compare with the HG.

Never tried an Unger soap believe it or not, they sell it at my local shop, worth a try or....?

to b honist @Ant ide not bother with it if i was u theres no suds and its harder too detail with it i found u use more cloths and it slows me down but its one of them realy u ,may luv it for me i wont buy any more of the unger

i think its a fine line betwen no suds an to mch suds i like just anouth to c the water on glass but when blading off if it starts to dissapear them thats idel for me as detailing is then reduced and quick

looks good m8 ill get some as im allmost out of squeege off im ordering some of this next week

keep us posted on that ta.

SYR are unsung heroes in my book. ages ago i read the story behind scott young research, the SYR story

from memory he was a window cleaner in the uk who went to america to work then suddenly set about becoming a manufacturer. it was a very interesting story. syr products seem to very much background players compared to unger. but everytime iv tried one it has the edge over unger.

well I won't rush out to buy any then, too many negatives there! I agree you do need some suds!

More than happy with the HG at the moment. I'll get some squeegee off soon, and maybe try some other brands like GG4. At this rate I'll be a professor of soaps like you tench

Hey Ant ..... my razr reds really dragged to start with but i just broke a few in doing the same window each time about 5-8 times on each rubber and in the main are ok now. I've done several jobs with them and cutomers been happy, enough to recommend me to friends now. I did have an issue on my 1st job using them where it missed a section on a window, not sure why. To cut the drag I've found pressing lightly works, although when breaking in i had to press harder. I'm sure you know all this already mate but that's how i did it. I've found recently also that whilst on the job that carrying my squeegees in the bucket works better than pressing in my boab. I also couldn't get to an area with my right hand today so used my left and amazed to say that it works almost better than my right, i think i used the correct pressure.

Just re-read the last 4 lines and looks a bit iffy!!!

Hi mate. Thing is Keefo, the rzr's that I used were already broken in, they were in from last time I used the liquidators, so maybe as I say the clips are buggered, or possibly it was a technique issue due to not using them for a while! I've got used to the S plus and my modded 10" Unger s channel, but I'll service the liquidators and give em one last bash!

I agree mate, keeping my squeegees in the bucket has certainly helped with nicks and kinky rubbers (kinky rubbers ooer, now I'm sounding all iffy too) /emoticons/tongue.png
