Newbies here...disappointing start at canvassing advice please

Its more about how many doors open, just initially dont put too much pressure on yourselfs to hit massive amounts.

Cheers whizz.

Where I am in London it's extremely compact all terraced semi detached and detached properties. So I'm hoping for quite a good return.

You ever worked london.? How did you find it.?

I thought you said london whizz

London doesn't have s in it's postcodes

S is the dodgy area joined to london where they all speak like wrong uns

Haha I love the whole of london it's a good knock with houses closely slotted together even the funny accent end

I thought the whole of London was the dodgy bit joined onto the bottom of the lovely Midlands?

******UPDATE******

And replies.....lol

Been reading through this as not been in for a bit... We have done a full 4 weeks round since I was last on here!! Back to first one tomorrow gone super fast!

To answer someone's earlier post...its Emma... And I've managed to book in a total of 122 customers so far hence not being in here

Thanks for everyone's advice business is Going so far so good, a few idiots about including a couple of "Jeremy Kyles " shouting prices were too high... from across the street, what a bell end!! Lol

Out of customers we have so far we have 3 rubbish payers, I make sure they have a set collection day and if I have the collection ticket to them I politely but jokingly ask them to stick it on fridge so they won't forget...and leave our number on if there's any problems paying just in case they haven't got the money and there's no time wasted collecting, no problems yet..well there is with 3 of them!

Did you get all 122 from door knocking or flyers etc..flyers work for me but 122 is very good going for 4 weeks and interested to see how you did it

Keep it up you're doing great

Thank you davey, yes I go knocking and I carry a bunch of flyers, most have come from knocking definitely! Got around 12 from flyers and a few while we were doing cleans, next canvassing tomorrow and Tuesday - I enjoy that more than the cleaning!! Haha.

Keep it simple when I knock, tell them the first clean price and then the price after that every 4 weeks and they're fine with that, I have just started canvassing a new estate, filthy windows!! Got 13 customers from there in 2 hours canvassing last Tuesday, we cleaned the windows the day after because I'd not done as much second week of cleaning but because of school holidays most people were home /emoticons/smile.png

I say...

" sorry to bother you I was just wondering if you would like a window cleaner as we are in the area tomorrow/next week"

Or

"Hiya, do you need a window cleaner"

And always greet with a smile, I kind of adapt the way I speak to whoever is behind the door really

That's how i have always done it..

No spiel and sales techniques

Knock door

Be my normal charming self

"Do you need a window cleaner?"

Job done

I've got jobs by saying "morning sweetheart do you need a window cleaner?"

It's not so much what you say it's the confidence and way you say things

It helps that I've done it for years for myself and other companies I've worked for..none of the anxiety for me

yeah.. I don't have a sales technique or anything but I used to work market stalls from age 14 so can talk to people easily enough and it's not much of a big deal for me at the moment, quite exciting especially as I've hit a new area who are clearly lacking window cleaners and when people answer the door they look at me expecting them to ask to give money to a charity or something as I'm assuming there's not a huge number of female window cleaners lol and I carry a clipboard just to look a tad more professional /emoticons/smile.png

I've done it since i left school so am used to speaking to customers..it definitely makes a difference having the confidence to chat to people at the door over somebody new to it with anxiety / nerves about it

I have been out with a mate before helping him get work in london and his nerves definitely showed and lost him jobs at the door

He has no issues now though so it's all good
