Spending Halloween under the stars tonight. Beautiful weather at the moment, so calm. Just had a steak and a bottle of goblin. No tarp overhead, just a bivi. Sitting and watching the fire, can't beat it. Hope you all having a nice Halloween./emoticons/smile.png

F..k Halloween. American ****. My local pub was full of attention seeking dickheads who normally sit in watching poxy x factor. For those of us who use our locals, these plebs can p..ss off. (sorry tolish, had a lot to drink today)

I hope when your watching the fire it's not the forest that's burning TolishAPurd or is that what you do on weekends buddy a bit of arson lol

Thats right, I remember he was in to all that too. I love being outside and looking at the pics theres a lot of camo but its all for the purpose of blending in to the environment as its technically illegal in england.

It's the tall skinny look that made me think that

I know lots of woods round that way as i have family round Fakenham and 6 mile bottom area all the way to yarmouth

My uncle is a game warden in the new forest. .we should go up there one day for a camp..i can bring my rifle and catch dinner;) or set some deadfall traps

you say its illegal to camp that way? might be worth having forged papers on you case ur stopped. that reminds me , about 4 yrs ago i was out for a beach walk and up on the cliffs i took a shortcut thru a hole in a fence into private grounds . a lady n her hubby confronted me ,angry at my silence/grinning face -i had apparently cut the fence a fortnight erlier and then caused their sheep to miscarry on a previous jaunt [only it wasnt me ]

they were determined i wouldnt get away scot free wanted my info so i gave them the name and address of a fellow not far from where i live.[ i REALLY wanted to play rambo "let me go,,,,or i will kill you both "]

i always wondered how he got along when they came round to see him .

There are some lovely places to camp round Beaulieu way

Officially some of the new forest is still common land and the locals can still graze their pigs and such there if they want

Lovely part of the world and glad my family are all from that area originally

Can't beat the south coast

way back when ,i was in the tearoom/office of a local car breakers and somehow the subject of deliverance came up. 4 of the yard lads were sat in there suddenly struck up a word for word recital " hey youve got a real pretty mouth "

"youre gonna pray for me boy "

real creepy!!!!

Yeah technically its illegal to 'wild camp' since every bit of land in england is owned by someone. So you need to ask for permission from the land owner, in this case the forestry commission. But if you do that, they will only say "no". So basically you just do it anyway, but the key thing is to pitch late, and leave early, keep a low profile, and most importantly; leave it exactly as you found it. I always take pics of the camps, and even show a pic of how we left it...that way if anyone catches us in the night and accuses us of making a mess and leaving rubbish I can show pics of previous camps all left immaculate.

Closest call to date was a private forest where we walking out 5 minutes before a shooting party was about to walk through. Gun dogs going mental. We got in the car quick as we could.

New forest looks really good, drivent past it a few times. It would be interesting to know if your bro has had any dealings with wild campers before and what his views are on them.
